I was and wish they would return to that since they have a less anxious cat.

We're all pretty old so I'd say most posters saw the circus cat

It was amazing. He hated Mike the Tiger Mascot so they would use him to make him roar in front the student section for everyone to hear.

All the way back to the era when Mike IV and Mike V would actually roar during pre-game.

It was great, Kids could go up close to the cage and see Mike from pretty close.
Cheerleaders would ride in on top of his cage, and once in front of student section, right in front of where I often sat, they would stick microphone up to the cage and instigate him to roar....it rocked the entire stadium. Nothing like it anywhere...and I miss it bigtime.

It was cool, but it’s the type of thing that brings unwanted PETA-esque attention to the university. It’s a great piece of LSU lore, but I don’t know that it would be a good idea to bring back.

Either Mike III or IV's mobile cage was bars only. We were playing So Carolina and the USC cheerleaders were taunting him with their chicken. Mike swipes a paw and knocks the chicken out of their hands. I was watching with binoculars and I swear he got the chicken in the cage and ate it. BUT they say it's an urban legend.

The Next week there way chicken wire all around Mike's Mobile cage!.

I’m pretty sure I saw Mike in the stadium in 2003 and 2004. When did they stop the tradition to appease PETA (which didn’t work)?

I saw it vs Arkansas in 2015. Haven’t seen it since.

I don’t know why they couldn’t get a sound proof habitat that is stationed right outside of the visitors tunnel. Don’t necessarily have to drive him around the stadium. Just bring him in for warmups and when the visitors run out then get him out of there.

All the technology and resources in 2023 this can happen.

It wasn't to appease Peta. Mike VI sometimes just didn't respond when the handlers were trying to get him in the cage. The people in charge of him thought the crowd and stadium gave him anxiety or some shite so they wouldn't force him. Then they thought it was more humane to never have the tiger do it again. So they never even tried with Mike VII. It's bullshite.

That and the Indian mounds. These traditions need to be restored.

I have, loved it. Was a great pre-game ritual that needs to be brought back.

Very unique experience

Mike will never enter the stadium on a game day again. That has been clear for years. Fairly certain the Vet School has said as much.

LSU chose fireworks and firing blanks from that field gun over dragging Mike around in the trailer.

Most of us.

Someone chose firecrackers over Mike.

He used to go all over. I think he just travels to and from the vet center now.
