The fireworks made Mike hate the stadium.

I remember the last time I saw it. 2009 Arkansas. Military appreciation jerseys. White with purple shades of Camo for the numbers. Chad Jones ripping Joe Adam's head off in the end zone. First SEC game and it was awesome.

I have, in the early 1960s. I was told that they hit Mike The Tiger with a cattle prod right as the visiting team ran past his cage, very intimidating!

This obsession brings out the worst possible image of LSU fans. You really don’t give a shite about anything except yourselves and a five second indulgence.

It was literally a part of game day atmosphere. How a cow, a dog, a wagon with horses, more horses, an eagle, and even some idiot milkmen looking weirdos get to go to their games but not a tiger on a cage? C’Mon man, I mean it’s just a short time and back to the habitat he goes. But optics and perception are reality, and I guess Tigers have more rights than other animals. Also I don’t care and I yield to Tiger experts. However I digress.

When they filmed “Everybody’s All-American” they brought Mike in pulled by a ‘57 Chevy. It was a sight to behold.

It was amazing. He hated Mike the Tiger Mascot so they would use him to make him roar in front the student section for everyone to hear.

Try living with one who roared all night about 100 yards away from you. My North Stadium dorm room in '83-'84 was about 100 yards away from Mike IV's habitat. He was the opposite of Mike VI (who came out regularly and interacted with the people). Mike IV was low key during the day but roared regularly at night. Since there were no window units in the dorm rooms, you left the windows open which left you susceptible to a noise that made the hairs on the back of you neck stand up.

LSU’s reasoning is so dumb considering it’s not even the same Tiger anymore. The previous Mike was “afraid” as they said. The company line is he was afraid of the fireworks when LSU runs out. Well how bout we cut the fireworks. I don’t need stupid fireworks when LSU runs out if it means Mike can be in the stadium.

But that’s not the real reason. It’s because LSU is a bunch of pussies.

I also remember we used to be able to smoke on airplanes and use leaded gasoline.

Things change.

The story I've always heard that at some point Mike got a new Vet who was responsible for his care & ruled that the stadium's noise was too traumatic for Mike.

You heard incorrectly. One of the conditions for getting Mike VI was that LSU had to commit to never forcing him into the trailer. Dr. Baker kept the requirement confidential until Mike VI died so as to not stir up resentment from fans like OP to blame the donors.

In and remember the piece of shite habitat he had back then too. Wish it still happened but can see the respect for the animal and his lively hood.
