When did society normalize standing people up?

So I had a date planned for last Saturday with a woman. I get to the restaurant and she doesn’t show up. No call or text saying something came up. I ended up having a damn good meal and then went to the bar next door to watch the games. I was talking with some other men at the bar and they had noticed this increasing as well. One of the bartenders told me that not a Saturday goes by that he doesn’t hear a similar story. The girl texted me this morning to explain and she just said “I caught a weird vibe while getting ready and decided not to show.” No apology or even an acknowledgment of wrongdoing. My question to the board happened to make people but especially women decide to ignore the rules of basic human decency?

ETA: She sent nudes before the date but didn’t show up.

This is why she’s 35 and single. Normal people don’t do this

I'll be safe and say that social media/dating apps have helped drive this up several notches.

But ugly people have been stood up for millennia.

Look at the bright side, at least she did all the "dodging the bullet" work for you. People like her are beyond fixable. I bet she cries to her friends that she has no idea why she is single too.

Plot twist: the nudes weren't actually her which is why she didn't show up.

I’m not sure of outright being stood up, but since cell phones, people are less and less dependable with a last minute text they can’t make it.

When I was younger you planned things and people showed up because there wasn’t an easy out.

The idea of dating scares the hell out of me. If my wife ever decided she wanted to upgrade I think I would just stay single.

Online dating makes it easier for people to dehumanize who they're talking to.

Women believe any shite they see on Facebook...

and live their lives by it...

Is this an on-line meet up?

On line dating takes the human element out off social beginnings, makes it easy for women just to say frick it, and not worry about any outcomes.

I'm just glad I got married before I need to meet someone on-line...

Women have ruined dating in the past 20+ years. It’s gotten especially bad the last 10. This comes from lack of consequences and then getting a free pass for just being women.

She’s emotionally immature and/or unstable. Just be happy that you dodged a bullet.

You think she showed up, saw you, and left?

This. There’s not a woman that’s ever rejected me that I looked back on later and thought “man I missed out”.

It started with a heavier shift to texting versus calling. It’s easier for communication to be depersonalized through text.

And it’s not just women or even in dating. Ghosting has become prevalent across the board. I’ve seen folks struggle with it professionally in not showing up for appointments (especially if there isn’t a late fee to be charged). Or interviews. Especially in the last 5-10 years.

It sounds to me like you are a very lucky guy. You enjoyed your meal, had a good time watching football, and didn't have to deal with ms crazy.

When the smart phone came out.

You dodged a bullet. Definitely an insincere Jezebel if she pulls that shite

Lots of men do the same thing with online dating. Set up dates and cancel them if they find someone they prefer.

Also agree about the point of cell phones having made it lot more common to cancel everything at the last minute.
