I think It’s also worth nothing that Ensminger was a bad 3rd Down and bad Red Zone play caller.

Our Redzone TD% was 104th in the nation in 2020 and 119th in 2018. It was 55th in 2016 and that was with 3 NFL caliber RBs on the roster.

We were 102nd in 3rd down conversions in 2020 and 57th in 2019

I didn't realize we were commending players for leading drives down the field and then going 0 for 2 on completions from the 2 yard line to lose the game. Was it LSU's defense's fault that Myles couldn't convert those last 2 passes and we lost?
The Missouri game is the most baffling if them all from a "blame Myles" perspective. LSU had the worst defense in the history of the program, and ran for a total of 48yds. The fact that we even had a chance to win to begin with was because of Myles. And he was doing it with a torn abdomen. He did what he needed to do to get LSU down to the 2 yd line. But the rest of the team was so damn piss poor that they couldn't do anything to help him.

And Lord knows the coaching staff wasn't helping. We had a 6-6 giant QB that perfected the QB sneak, but the coach staff decided to keep him on the sidelines and play our injured QB instead.

But yet, it's all Brennan's fault.

Why is everybody bringing up stats against Missouri, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt finished 113th in total defense. (119th in Passing Yards per game)
Mizzou finished 85th in total defense.(84th in Passing Yards per game) Mississippi State finished 57th in total defense. (105th in Passing Yards per game)

We went against 3 of the worst defenses in the SEC, of course he's gonna throw up decent stats.

The beef with Myles is that Joe Burrow gave him the blueprint and he basically ignored it. Myles actually has better natural arm talent than Burrow as well. Instead of using the Burreaux blueprint, Myles decided to focus on off the field hobbies instead of football. And he gained around 80 pounds of bad weight while he was oddly injured for an entire season. Compare that to Joe, who was ironman in college and when he got a severe injury in the NFL, he somehow managed to improve anyway.

I think most of us still like Myles to an extent. I do. But he did not follow up the Joe Burrow era very well. It’s an impossible act to follow, but he didn’t even come close to approaching it. And many feel like he has lacked a bit of effort and drive along the way.

Max has amazing stats. My aggie buddies are telling me they essentially got John Elway from us in the portal. Stats don't tell the story in 45 pass attempts a game spreads. 3rd downs are the key, and both were horrible in their limited games. Both have horrible pocket presence.

Miles was awful against miss st. He was terrified in the pocket, ran from clean pockets (he admitted), and they had to work with him to step up into the pocket to make a throw next few weeks. As a senior.

He waited 5 seconds to throw a wide open wheel route, got hit on the arm, and threw an int, that secured us losing to miss st. His td throws were under thrown, and had marshall to bail them. He looked terrible, but had good stats cause chucked it 50 times.

He progressed each week with the pocket. Vanndy could tell, and they stated to him, he was forcing emphasis on stepping up and throwing it, trusting his guys.

Missou game, before the injury, he was down right slinging it. The ball jumped how we all expected it to after 4 yrs of hearing about his arm, balls weren't underthrown like miss st. Wasn't running into sacks as much and away from clean pockets. Rewatched, and after his injury is where he went south. Gutsy by him, but he should have come out. We went like 1-10 on 3rd downs after his injury, and he couldn't make 5 yd out throws. That was the injury, and he shouldn't have been out there still.

It's a heavily mixed bag on what he's got. Stats are good cause we played worst teams on the schedule that yr, that each also had historically bad defenses. He looked awful against miss st, there's no way anyone thinks he looked and played good. He definitely progressed comfort level in pocket, and by missou was playing well. It's tough to know if that's legit though cuase it was awwwwwwwful defenses. Marshall looked like he was playing practice cones at times.

Backup QB at LSU is always the best football player in college

He can sling it but people acting like he is a sure thing are just as ridiculous.

You can basically say this about all 3 QB’s to be honest. Myles hasn’t played in almost 2 years. Daniels wasn’t very good last year, and year before that he got hurt as well. Nuss has barely played at all. All 3 of them still have a lot to prove.

think everyone would be fine with him as the starter if he was that same guy for sure

I think a few people would still bitch, maybe even melt, and a lot would be waiting for his first mistake.

I expect Brennan will be the starter. He has too much over the other two who are good QB’s. Brennan’s experience, knowledge, arm, and maturity will be the decisive factors. It’s good to know if he can’t stay healthy we have two good back up options. It’s been a while since we’ve had real depth at QB.

The defense cost us that game. Any other observation is delusional.

From what I’ve seen

You also wanted to keep Ed O and fire Dave Aranda. Your opinion is uncannily bad. TD should insert a feature where Yakety Sax plays every time someone reads your sports takes.

I think Nuss has a much higher ceiling than Myles and he's better suited to run this offense

Not one single person on this board knows what "this offense" is going to look like and to use that statement is pretty foolish

On a side note this month can not go by fast enough

It’s a bit disingenuous to bring up national rankings in a season where most teams played conference-only schedules. Especially if you’re going to use that as evidence that they were “3 of the worst defenses in the SEC.”

Here were their SEC rankings:

Total Defense
Mississippi State - #5
Mizzou - #8
Vanderbilt - #12
LSU - #13

Passing Defense
Mizzou - #5
Mississippi State - #10
Vanderbilt - #12
LSU - #14

Vanderbilt certainly was one of the worst defenses in the SEC (though somehow our defense was even worse). Mizzou and Mississippi State were, contrary to popular belief, pretty average SEC defenses in 2020. They weren’t world beaters but they also weren’t nearly as bad as people make them out.

2020 was the conference only szn in which he threw for 1100+ yds and 11/3 Td/Int in 3 games.

2 of those 3 were Vandy and Mizzou.
not exactly 2011 Bama on Defense.

There are A LOT of people here openly rooting against [Brennan].
not really. We just don't think he's a good enough QB and would prefer someone else start.

I personally have nothing against Brennan, and if he's our starter, I'll root for him big-time. I want LSU to win - period.

I just don't think Brennan's the answer at QB.
