Maybe O didn't have them prepared,

He didn't. That Chunn kid was undrafted and we made him look like he was an SEC running back.

I didn't see throw either of those interceptions, fumble the ball, or miss the field goal. Not his fault.

There it is again. Look, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I really am not but O is responsible on how the team is prepared as a unit. He is the head coach.

I'm not going to dive deep into this particular game because it's been said a million times.

If you're an O fan and feel like he deserves another, yet another, chance, so be it. That's your choice.

Last season is always there and he looked completely lost at the SEC media days. But if he wins consistently, as I stated earlier, I'll be right there to eat crow.

Never thought I’d see the day where people actually think they can justify losing to a directional school. Wow. From National Title contenders to this pitty party.

O will never be anything but a lucky coach at LSU in the eyes of some fans. Lucky that he was in the right place at the right time. Which is true. He has to prove to everyone that he's cut out for this high level, high pressure HCing gig bc his last full time stop was terrible. I think he knows he needs to win over some fans as well as gain national recognition by beating the top tier teams on our schedule. 2018 is the perfect year to do so. If he can do that then it will prove all the doubters wrong.

His instincts on players who will develop is probably the best around. You won't see many players bust, that O has recruited. Also if you look at his classes, most players have contributed and made it to campus. I don't think he will have much turnover from his recruits. He's doing a great job in a short time with building up our depth at the LOS and at LB. He's also recruiting better talent at QB and the skill positions IMO. He's missed a a couple of RBs and CBs but that's about it.

I think if LSU can close out this class with another top 15 OT and (2) top 15 DE/DTs, along with what we have left on our board, it will add to our depth and make us even stronger, as a program, under his watch.

I think this 2018 team is just going to be much different than we've seen in the past. I think they know what to expect, how hard to work and how important the details are. We have players to hold other players accountable. Your coach can do that all day but it simply means more to have your teammate ask you to not let the team down with your effort or lack of attention to detail.

White said it the other day that he's not letting the younger players get away with even the small things and he's setting the example in the film room. The players are now being tested on how the scheme works on the chalk board meeting room as well as on the practice field live and if they don't know it top to bottom, they won't play period.

Yep, players fault not coach, just like 1-9-12 right?

My post from 7/6/18:
Because he was totally outcoached on 1/9/12!

Our offense was ineffective in the Game of the Century yet Les made no adjustments when we played them in the Natty. Not one change in game plan. Then they shut our offense down even more in the Natty than they did in GOTC where it took us overtime to finally score our 3rd field goal.

Nick completely changed their offensive scheme which dominated our defense in game #2.

We were the dominant team physically but were outcoached and out schemed because Les was too hardheaded to make changes. And that same unwillingness to make changes got him fired.

That's why there is so much hate!

A shortage of defensive linemen allowed Troy to knock us off the ball and dominate the LOS.
But many tackles were missed and some LBs and DBs were out of position to make plays too often.
LSU scored zero points in the first half but we had no d lineman. O never takes a loss

The players did by not making the simple plays & by making stupid mistakes.

Who is responsible for making sure the players are ready for the game, so that they don't make stupid mistakes and can execute simple plays during a game day situation?

I wonder...

I just kept waiting for it to get better and it never did. Almost nothing good would push us towards momentum. And the end of the half went from a small victory going in, into them even further on cloud nine.

When players don't play well, and they have FAR more talent than the other team, do you just blame the players? Coaching plays a role here. Or, you can just blame the fans.

All things a good coach would have his team prepared not to do. How can anyone not understand what a joke our coaching staff is to the knowledgeable college football world? That includes $2.5M to Aranda. Please, he was fired by Hawaii a few years ago.

The only thing they do a decent job of doing is recruiting and that is because O is full of bullshite. Unfortunately we are going to lose several of our top level recruits once the ball is kicked off in Arlington.

Hopefully, no idea who, can get to these commits and get them excited about LSU post EO as I think these kids want to play for LSU, not necessarily the current coaching staff.

If you like turmoil, this will be a fun seasonal for you. Wish we had a new AD that could see what is coming and already be making a plan for the next head coach.

You can bet Alleva hasn’t lifted a finger to get prepared. If for some awful reason he is still around in late November, he will start to think about it then.

Overall team attitude is something that stems from the head coach.

For whatever reason, LSU didn't show any heart until the midpoint of the season. To me, that's the biggest thing to take away from last season, and something to watch this year. If we put forth the effort, I think this team will be fine.

I'm in full agreement with the OP. Upvote

Many of these responses of ignorance display the lack of football knowledge the Tiger faithful were once known for.
Also, Troy is a good program and had a very good team last year. The schedule timing worked well in their favor as that was a weak point in time for LSU. Injuries, suspensions, and lack of fundamentals did us in.
Kicking was the poorest in history for us last year. THAT is also what cost the Notre Dame game. It will be 10x better this season. That alone will be huge.

So Saban should have been fired immediatley after UAB? Then The Gumps should have fired him right after ULM? I wonder sometimes if some of you realize what we would have done for a 9-4 season in the early 90s.

You can’t watch the game without bias dumbass. Everyone has it.
So those dlinemen (and Olinemen) that left after O took over are on O. Period.

I didn't see anywhere the op stated never. Also if it's always the coaches fault, then mj must not have been the reason he won six rings. I guess Phil won all those rings. But if players win some games, them they also lose some.

Otherwise you might have played a game in which the staff prepared you well but key players didn't perform for whatever reason. .......

That was a hypothetical example for those of us who have played the game. None of know if LSU was well prepared well for the Troy game unless you were on the practice field and in the meeting rooms during that week. To make any other assumption is ridiculous as a poor performance on Saturday night does not necessarily translate to poor preparation by the coaching staff during the week(not taking up or Coach O-this applies to every coaching staff),

You think Canada didn't teach MBrennan to look off the DB and not throw into double coverage? Yet he did it anyway and stopped a drive in the 3rd qtr against Troy. So is that poor preparation on the coaching staff or is that poor execution by the player? If you say its the coach's fault, I quit!
Same with the missed field goal or Brossette's fumble.

I AM NOT MAKING ANY EXCUSES FOR ORGERON THAT I WOULD NOT MAKE FOR ANY OTHER COACH. I DID NOT WANT HIM HIRED. BUT SOME OF THE ARGUEMENTS THAT THE HATERS MAKE AGAINST HIM ARE RIDICULOUS & SHOW AN ACUTE LACK OF FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE.

Short of a scandal or a complete meltdown, he will be here through the 2019 season at least, so just chill out and hope that he is much better than we all think he is and maybe he can get us back to being a contender.
