Where is MRA?

I know a few people from the Kentwood area that sent their kids to Parklane over OFA. Currently have friends and relatives whose kids are at OFA and doesn’t have any complaints.

We live mid-parish and are torn between OFA and Courtney Christian to send our kids.

MRA is in Madison area near Jackson. Parklane is really our only option unless we wanna make the drive to OF. This thread actually made me do some asking around to my friends and family that have kids at Parklane and OF. They both seem very happy with the education their kids are receiving. I'm not familiar with Courtney Christian so I can't comment on that. My biggest question to my friends and family were if any woke nonsense was in either OF or PA and it was a resounding NO.

I don't see those teams beating Riversiide or AC "ask bad as the want to" if at all.

Maybe not as bad as they want to but they are beating them pretty good. Jackson Academy beat an MRA team by like 30 and that MRA team went to Catholic and beat them. Those schools in the Jackson area are the real deal.

This can be deceiving until you get in the mix of it. From my experience with schools like this, I'd estimate about 25% of the kids would be able to handle an honors level curriculum. That doesn't mean the others aren't good kids, but there's no advanced pacing for the ones who can take it on.

From what I know the typical MAIS schools in this region are very strong academically. I have family members that send their kids to MRA and Parklane Academy. I have friends that send their kids to OF. My kids currently go to a public school but I'm seriously considering sending them to Parklane. Apparently the vast majority of the student populations at these schools go to college and they have very high ACT scores.

Huh. I assumed the ball just kept rolling when I saw how many titles they have won when this thread made me poke around. Wiki said they won six of the last ten titles.

They've gone down in classification. They still win in their current class but they can't compete with the Parklane Academy and OFs anymore.

Historically Centreville is probably the best team on their schedule

Centreville has gone down in the past 10 years. The last few times they have played OF or Parklane they have gotten killed. I live in South Miss now and Centreville is losing enrollment. They aren't what they were in the past.

Dunno the quality now but back in my day OFA was very competitive but it was like LSU/Bama under the Bear: a very good team that couldn’t get titles because they couldn’t get past the one

They won a state championship a few years ago according to my friend that has kids there but his kids are young still so they didn't play on the team.

And yet they would have probably done better than 3-7 playing the teams OF does

I don't know anything about OF's football team but I see they played Parklane, Jackson Academy, and Jackson Prep. Those 3 teams would beat every team on STA's schedule by as much as they wanted too. Jackson Academy has several SEC caliber players including one of the top OL in the country that has LSU interest. My kids go to a school in the MHSAA but the MAIS has some really good football teams espcially from the Jackson area.

The principal there this year came from Bowling Green in Franklinton. He's a huge sports guy, in fact I'd dare say he cares about sports/academics 90/10. He's what we call out in the real world "a no talent pussy". He's a yes man for the board and that's why he's been promoted from football coach to running both schools. He will treat your kid like dogshit unless you're of some use to him.

Think you may have the wrong school. I have some friends in the area that send their kids there. I texted them asking about the school when I saw this thread. The guy in charge is from Amite and went to school there from the info they gave me.

Worse than St Thomas for sports and academics.

I can't speak on academics but I'd have a hard time believing they are worse than STA in sports. I watched their football team this year and it's the worst football team I have ever seen in my entire life. Looked like a middle school team.

This is very true….. Chalmette should just play their JV team. Maybe they can win that

My BIL kids go to MRA. I'm originally from BR but live in South Ms now. I didn't know much about MS football but going to watch my nephew play at MRA opened my eyes. They are impressive.

. If Chalmette ever wants to raise a banner, MAIS is the only way.

Chalmette woud be in trouble even in the MAIS. They would be in a league with MRA. MRA went into Catholic this year and beat them. In the first round of the playoffs MRA got whipped 35-0 by JA. The top of the MAIS is full of SEC talent.

Just my anecdotal side of this but I'd say from 2020-2023 it was much harder to catch redfish. In the past couple years it's been pretty easy. Seems like the population has bounced back in the last couple year. I fish anywhere from PAC to GI to Venice. Noticed a major bounce back last year near GI. Went on a warm day in December and reds were thickest I could remember in Marsh between GI and Leeville.

Concerned about the lane breaking down, leaving their backs free and luring us into a blitz.

Baker is playing a ton of man coverage. If he blitzes he has somebody accounting for the back. If the back stays in to block those guys will usually add on the rush.

You think Sloan and Davis know what they’re doing?

They absolutely know way more than you.

Curne needs to be our LG

Why? Davis, Kelly , Sloan, and Atkins know what they are doing.
Yet the coach that gave us most of those top 10 finishes is universally hated by our fanbase.

The common denominator is Petitto and I don’t give two shits who disagrees with that on this board!

Most will. As well as your false assumption that Golding worked under Petitto at SELU. Just factually incorrect. There is a reason Pete is an SEC DC and Sam is support staff. Not to diminish what Sam has done. He's just not on the same level as Pete. And not near as important in getting those recruits unless you mean he's important in making sure the handlers get paid.
quote:

Lol WOW! You can’t be this naive. SMH DeVonte Smith said publicly in so many words he trusted Petitto etc. and why he followed him to Alabama. Make sure in the 2nd link you scroll halfway down and read the part where DeVonte Smith says it’s been a while since he talked to Sam but he can go to him for anything etc etc etc.

Yea HS kids aren't ever going to come out and say they are going to a school because of the money and the money the handlers are getting. Don't be so naive.
If you think players are committing to schools bc of a support staff guy you are way off. If you think that support staff guy helped make sure that players handlers got paid then you'd be correct. Kids don't commit to school based of the guy that sets up recruiting visits. But they do go to school (pre NIL) that their handlers push them too based on their handlers getting a kick back. This isn't complicated.

Heaven forbid schools value students learning something above anything else.

Yea they are learning zero accountability and consequences for their actions.
