re: Redfish numbers
Posted by NussBusDriver on 10/7/25 at 12:38 pm to Dulacrat
Just my anecdotal side of this but I'd say from 2020-2023 it was much harder to catch redfish. In the past couple years it's been pretty easy. Seems like the population has bounced back in the last couple year. I fish anywhere from PAC to GI to Venice. Noticed a major bounce back last year near GI. Went on a warm day in December and reds were thickest I could remember in Marsh between GI and Leeville.

Concerned about the lane breaking down, leaving their backs free and luring us into a blitz.
Baker is playing a ton of man coverage. If he blitzes he has somebody accounting for the back. If the back stays in to block those guys will usually add on the rush.

Yet the coach that gave us most of those top 10 finishes is universally hated by our fanbase.

The common denominator is Petitto and I don’t give two shits who disagrees with that on this board!
Most will. As well as your false assumption that Golding worked under Petitto at SELU. Just factually incorrect. There is a reason Pete is an SEC DC and Sam is support staff. Not to diminish what Sam has done. He's just not on the same level as Pete. And not near as important in getting those recruits unless you mean he's important in making sure the handlers get paid.

Lol WOW! You can’t be this naive. SMH DeVonte Smith said publicly in so many words he trusted Petitto etc. and why he followed him to Alabama. Make sure in the 2nd link you scroll halfway down and read the part where DeVonte Smith says it’s been a while since he talked to Sam but he can go to him for anything etc etc etc.
Yea HS kids aren't ever going to come out and say they are going to a school because of the money and the money the handlers are getting. Don't be so naive.

If you think players are committing to schools bc of a support staff guy you are way off. If you think that support staff guy helped make sure that players handlers got paid then you'd be correct. Kids don't commit to school based of the guy that sets up recruiting visits. But they do go to school (pre NIL) that their handlers push them too based on their handlers getting a kick back. This isn't complicated.

re: I have not felt this good about LSU football since 2019. A breakdown as to why:

Red Zone offense and playcalling was very subpar last year. No guarantees that makes an improvement, but I hope it will.
Our OL's inability to run block and Nuss's inability or refusal to run was our biggest issue in the redzone. In that area you have to leave one unblocked and hold them with the threat of the QB. We didn't have that. I think we'll see MVB and Johnson at QB some in the redzone so we have that extra hat accounted for.

but even with a veteran offensive line we weren’t consistent on offense last year.
Last season we were breaking in a new QB. Had the least talented WR room in a long time and our OL was horrific at run blocking. With all that we finished 25th in the country in yards per game. We finished in the 40s in points scored because of redzone offense which finished 73. The redzone woes were an extension of our issues run blocking. You have to be able to run the ball in the scoring area. Our 4 OL that we lost were great in pass pro but average to below average run blockers. Especially Emory Jones. We need this new OL to be physical and allow us to run the ball in the red area. I think using MVB and JJ in the redzone at QB will help out these issues as well.

For being one of the top baseball programs in history, LSU's fans are(in general) completely oblivious when it comes to the actual sport.
There were multiple thread on the rant when I was a lurker calling for Burrow and Jayden to be benched. 2 of the best QBs in the NFL currently weren't good enough for a portion of our fanbase at one point.

Visiting Ohio made me feel like I was dropped off in 1975 and I'm from BR. I'm the first to agree BR is a shithole so I'll keep my mouth shut about Texas. You should likely do the same.

Until the committee actually shows not all records are created equal I 100% agree with you. They've shown you just need to avoid losing which is dumb.

I don't see anybody giving him a pass. I have only seen posters say that they like certain transfers that are coming in. I haven't read a positive post about him actually.

He is an interior defensive lineman too. A dominating defensive tackle is not easy to find at any level. To be rated that highly, it’s going to be a long day trying to run on him if he is as good as advertised.
Clemson finished 85th in run defense last year. LSU finished 51. I think we'll be okay.

You say this but if anyone jumps in the portal, Stamps, Gilbert, Toviano, Spears, depth becomes a issue. I don't see everyone hanging around but thats part of getting better.
You can lose 1 and be fine if you get Haulcy. Him and Cooley along with Spears, Toviano, and Rogers gives you plenty of bodies if a Gilbert decides to transfer.

True. We have the best baseball coach in the nation and our fans pile on him like he's Coach O so what should we expect from our fans when it comes to a coach with a losing SEC record.
