re: Absolutely pathetic effort

It's a tradition at LSU - in all sports - to get the big head after a National Championship and fall flat on their face the next year.

Still a young season, so one bad weekend doesn't mean this year will be a disaster. However, this game is a disaster.

Maybe being humiliated will break this "slump".

That's true, but even Jay commented that the reason their hitting hasn't been good is that they have too many games this week and can't practice hitting as much as he would like. He looked angry about it, but he's the one that makes the schedule.
It's not just him. Williams and that RR guy were just as bad.

5 games in 6 days...

Too many bad pitchers on this team to do that.

I'm wondering which "pitcher" we will use Wednesday.

After last weekend, it looks like this team seems bored playing against these "below average" teams.

They better be excited about Wed., cause the Cajuns are looking at that game like the World Series.

The difference between this yr and last are Bergeron and Edwards! It’s really that simple

It's not just those two. Coffey was a .400 hitter. The three transfers Edwards, Lorenz, and Hutchins have not done the job at all offensively.

However, Lorenz seems to be coming around, but we need the other two to hit around .300 if we will do anything in the SEC. It's going to be very hard to do that with the pitching in the SEC.

I do agree with you that if we can take just 1 game vs. Tenn., it could be the confidence we need to be competitive in the SEC.

You must not have played 3B at any level. The responsibilites might not be as much as 2nd or SS, but IMO it was harder to play than 2B.

Maybe it was just me, but I hated playing 3B. I loved 2B and SS, but 2B was much easier to play, at least for me.

And the SS covers more ground which can lead to more errors.

Which means it's harder to play than 2nd, right? That was his argument.
I agree with you. I played SS most of my life. My Senior year, I get moved to 3rd and all of sudden I start bouncing the throws to first.

I get moved to 2nd and it was much easier than short or third.

I did play some OF when I was younger and that was pretty easy only because no one seemed to hit it in the outfield. :dude:
That's why I ended with "Still early".
Not a good start in the 2nd game vs. Memphis, losing 1 - 0 in the 2nd. Still early.
The real games start next weekend.

Not so long ago everyone used to pretend that student came first in student athlete because that was the most important thing. This switch to money being the focus is what makes it unsustainable. So let it die, get back to attracting high achieving students, and that being the need or desire for the school to fund the program

I see what you are saying. However, In those times no one was paid in ANY sport (well, maybe they had some under the table and handshake payments).

Football and Men's basketball players will get paid. That's a a given.

So, you think the other sports players will just say,"Well, we will just take a scholarship and be happy with it".

Those days are over. What they will do is sue the school or conference or whatever and the courts will say (especially women's sports because of title 9) "You must pay those students also".

The schools are conferences will say, "This is too much of a headache and we are losing money", so they will just cut those sports or have them "club" sports.

Even then, Women will probably sue.
The dog is not in "good physical" shape if she is doing all these things.

Maybe tell your daughter that the dog is very sick and you have to take her to the vet. When you come back tell her the dog died while having surgery or something like that.

I waited way to long for my 17 year old dog and he was miserable the last couple of months because of it.

There is no easy way to tell your daughter. But, you need to think about the dog's pain 1st, daughter's feeling 2nd.
Key word is "MAYBE".

"Maybe" a scholarship.
"MAYBE" pay The head coach.
"MAYBE" even have a team.

There is absolutely no way this current system is maintainable past 3 more years at most without putting an end to every sport that is not Football and Men's Basketball.

And, before people say, LSU will fund baseball to guarantee they have a team.

Who the hell will they play? Intrasquad games? Purple and Gold World Series?
I've said this before - NIL will kill Women's college sports - yes, even women's basketball and men's olympic sports - even college baseball. The only two sports that can make a profit in the present system is Football and Men's basketball.

If something isn't done within 3 years, these women's college sports and men's olympic sports will become what is called "Club" sports where basically, the players/students have to pay for equipment, travel, etc.

Maybe the schools will give them a scholarship and pay for a Head Coach (the rest of the coaches would probably be volunteer coaches).

That is where this NIL crap is getting us and the "Revenue Sharing" crap.
