TSN failing to mention the rampant recruiting violations and shortcuts along with the mountain of ‘roids.

That Nebraska team was brutal, but 2019 LSU has their head spinning.

That 95 team beat a lot of tomato cans but they sure did whip up on that Gator team, and that's where they get their mystique from, let's be honest.

I believed, raided out or not, that 95 Nebraska was the best college team I ever saw till 19 LSU on the back end of the season.

Funny thing to me, I don't remember that 01 Miami team contemporarily being considered one of the GOATs. It wasn't till after players got to the NFL that they started to get the hype.

The offensive line for Nebraska averaged 276 pounds. Their defensive line averaged 257. And there's no way their corners or safeties could've even began to hang with our receivers. Just all-around bigger and better athletes on our team across the board. It was 30 years ago. And even if there wasn't that discrepancy, they still would've got boat raced

Well to be fair
Those of us old enough to remember do realize how dominant that Nebraska team was
I don’t think anyone could keep with the 2019 tigers but that Nebraska team was insanely good
Their offensive line could move anyone off the field

How is this even remotely close to relevant?

2019 LSU was better but damn Ahman Green was ELITE and '95 Nebraska was a damn good team. Ahman Green is probably the only player better at their position.

I'm guessing you weren't old enough to watch them but '95 Nebraska, 2001 Miami, and 2019 LSU are the 3 best teams in CFB History and each of them were very exciting to watch in their own right. I'm not mad someone thinks one of them is the best I think all 3 depending on your outlook can make an argument for.

Now, if they said 2020 Bama, 2008 Florida, 2004 USC, or 2005 Texas then I would be annoyed with the rankings.

Agreed.

It's a totally subjective and otherwise meaningless opinion. However, there is an argument to make for Nebraska. They were dominant in the regular season and, maybe more impressive, completely destroyed a great Florida team in the Fiesta Bowl. LSU was dominant at the end and one could definingly argue having to play, and dominate, three top 5 teams en route to a NC is more impressive. But I guess if you want to compare the overall season, there can be an argument LSU wasn't dominant early on. There were three games where the opponent had a chance to recover an onsides kick late to potentially win because LSU's defense couldn't close out the game. (Texas, Auburn, Alabama)

What on Earth does this have to do with anything their 1995 team accomplished?

That ‘95 Nebraska team was all around disgusting.
Their offensive and defensive lines were insane at least in that Fiesta Bowl. It was weird in that game because Florida looked competitive in the 1st quarter and were actually leading but once Nebraska had a big lead at the half with that offense it was over. Bottom line if they don't win by 30 poitns and get plays like Frazier's long touchdown run where Florida had him stacked up thought there was a whistle, that legacy is not the same.
Tommy Frazier was basically a running back but I would think they could score against 2019 LSU if you look at what Bama did with Najee Harris. They did do well against Florida's air attack and their secondary was legit, but we basically scored at will against anybody but Auburn who just had pass rushing DTs so could get pressure with a 3-man rush. Clemson had a pretty good pressure pass rush but that only slowed us down for a quarter, and we faced about every defense possible that year.

Some people worry about the most trivial things.
Uhhhh . . . I posted a link to a sports article discussing an LSU sports team on an LSU sports board on an LSU sports website, and I posted some quick analysis of two teams discussed in the article: LSU and the article's purported #1 team.

Lots of folks are interested in how 2019 LSU ranks in the pantheon of college football teams.

This a "learned" journal discussing that rank.

The better question might be: Why would you bother to complain about a link to a sports article discussing an LSU sports team on an LSU sports board on an LSU sports website with a quick analysis of two teams discussed in the article?

The rankings are not based on how the teams would do in head to head competition, but how the teams performed relative to the then existing competition. If TSN ranked offensive units, LSU would be number 1. The 2019 defense was good and peaked at the right time, but not necessarily the best.

Nebraska was good... But LSU scored at will. Nebraska could definitely slow the game down but the athletes in today's game would shut that offense down, especially if you gave them a month to prepare...

LSU would score early and often and nebraska would not be able to keep pace.

Almost as insane as knowing said stat and STILL trying to lobby for a team other than said team to be crowned as "better than."

Well that's fine as far as the rankings go. But there are plenty of people comparing the teams head-to-head

No question- Nebraska was a great team in 1995.

But I don't think it's fair to stack them against a great team from a more recent season.

As unusual as it might seem to some of the older guys here who remember Nebraska always having GARGANTUAN players up front, the 1995 Huskers would have been undersized by today's standards. That's just the truth.

There They Go Again - Sporting News selects 1995 Nebraska

I mean when we really think about it

1995 Nebraska, 2001 Miami, and 2019 LSU are the gold standards for all-time great college teams

I'm not offended by it, LSU's season speaks for itself, can mix or match however you prefer

I will say this though

while many teams are compared to 2019 LSU, 2019 LSU is compared to no other
