Not because I don't think the Budweiser Clydesdales are great (they are). But because it is indicative of more corporatization attaching itself to every aspect of college football.
The walk down the hill is an LSU tradition. Budwieser has ZERO affiliation with LSU, or even really Louisiana, outside of corporate sponsorship. The only reason Budweiser is doing it is for marketing purposes. In an era where there is more and more corporatization of college football (jersey patches, corporate names on courts/fields, game sponsors, first down's brought to you by OLOL, etc), it just feels like it might be nice to keep a few traditions unattached from corporate sponsorship.

I get your sentiment but there has been Bud Light stage in front of the PMAC across Tiger Stadium for years for game days, so not really breaking the mold here.
This will be nothing new for the Clydesdales, they alternate Mardi Gras day parades yearly between the AB wholesalers in New Orleans, Houma, Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Which also has pooper scoopers behind them so that marching bands don't step in dung piles.

My issue is not objection to Budweiser, the Clydesdales, or even corporate sponsorship in general. That's ubiquitous across all of college football. It's the commercialization of this specific act. The "Bud Light" stage is not some deeply rooted program tradition like the team walking into the stadium.
It would be like having Ronald McDonald, Allstate "mayhem" guy, or the CEO of Dr. Pepper march along with the drum major as he led the band onto the field to play the pregame song...despite the fact none have any longstanding affiliation with LSU football outside of corporate sponsorship.
It's ok to leave a few aspects of the gameday tradition unaffiliated with corporate sponsorship.

I get what you're saying and am inclined to agree with you in a certain way, but I'd much rather them meddle with this than in other areas.
