Agreed. I understand why LSU would do it.

I'd argue it is one of the few sacrosanct gameday traditions worthy of keeping free of corporate sponsorship. LSU really doesn't have a lot of longstanding gameday traditions. Every year there are posts on the board from visitors asking what are the "must see" events/things on game day. Almost unanimously, the walk down the hill and pregame march/playing of "Hold that Tiger" are mentioned as the two "musts".
LSU doesn't have an eagle flying around the stadium. The team doesn't enter the stadium by running down a hill led by a toy cannon on a dolly. The walk down the hill is one of the two traditional gameday activities LSU fans love. Now it is the walk down the hill..sponsored by Budweiser. Imagine talking to a visitor who is witnessing it for the first time and he asks: "Why are the Clydesdales leading the team down the hill? Do they always do that?" The honest response would be "No. They don't. AB just screwed up a couple of years ago by having a tranny ad campaign and they are trying desperately to win back customers who boycotted their product." Is that what we as LSU fans want in one of the sacred gameday traditions? A vehicle a beer company pays to exploit in hopes of correcting a corporate F-up?
