WWL-TV reporting that the queen of Zulu is a student at LSU, and that TGBFTL will lead her float. Might go see Zulu but it so early.

on the surface, the times they really are a changing...
and I think it's a good thing...

but then again, something like this would be right up F. King's social justice way of thinking...

are Grambling and Southern marching as well??

I always enjoy it when I do make it, but it is early. Not nearly so early, though, if you can catch it more downtown.

This is the first time the Zulu Queen will ride in the parade. Previously she stayed at Gallier Hall in the reviewing stand.

Fun fact for anyone unaware, there are white people who are members of Zulu, and they are required by the organization to paint their faces black for the parade.

If you remove the hate from the equation all you're left with is people having fun in costumes.

Obviously, the black folks in Zulu have no objections to this.

Most agree that "blackface" is a bad thing. Does not matter who is doing it and for what reason. The LSU Tiger Band is "participating" in this while representing the university. This was a very poor decision to perform in this parade.

Oh shut the frick up.

The band is likely making 15-20k to do this plus their costs. Great for the budget

Pretty sure you have Zulu and Rex confused and the queen of Rex is at the hotel intercontinental

From Zulu.....doubtful (based on what Southern has been paid in the past).

Nobody that matters gives a shite about blackface when it comes to Zulu. It wasn't a poor decision. It's a chance to expose the LSU band to hundreds of thousands of people who are having a good time.

Really.....It's a big deal. It has no place in society today. If there was a mostly white krewe doing this it would be the end of civilization (and you know it). I call BS if Zulu is not held to the same standard. The LSU band represents LSU and should not be associated with this issue.

Then march in Rex. The parade LSU chooses to participate in is totally their choice. LSU can march in ANY parade they choose.
