I haven't been in awhile but Zulu used to be one of the shittyist parades on Mardi Gras day. Always late and didn't throw crap to anyone.

Well, there is only two traditional parades with real floats and bands. The other is Rex. And although very pretty, they don't throw much either. But yes, Zulu is always late and usually has 1-2 breakdowns every year.

Most agree that "blackface" is a bad thing. Does not matter who is doing it and for what reason. The LSU Tiger Band is "participating" in this while representing the university. This was a very poor decision to perform in this parade.

I could not disagree with you more. Wipe your fricking pussy, it's leaking all over this board.

People of color across the country are calling this out for what it is....racism. Just because a black person thinks it is OK, that does not make it so. As far as "their tradition," slavery was also a tradition, so was blacks sitting in the rear of the bus, segregation, etc. Traditions that are wrong must go.

Jesus Christ, you could not be more ignorant.

The "ZULU Blackface" historically started because the members were mostly poor and could not afford masks to ride. The entire parade used to be a mockery of Rex. I have a hard time believing someone from Louisiana has a problem with this. You must be a transplant. Please take your carpetbagging arse home.

Zulu is 100% correct to continue their traditions as they see fit. If it upsets some, so be it. Kindly frick off.

The definition of racism is not defined by the "people of New Orleans." Our national conscience does.

Well this is just stupid. "Those people over there do not like what you are doing, you must stop your actions immediately!!!"

Those people over there are under no obligation to participate, they are not empowered to affect our actions though.

I have not called for or demanded that Zulu stop or change anything. You have not heard me say anything close to this. This thread was about the LSU band participating in the Zulu parade. My opinion is this is a poor decision because many people (in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and around the country) think the use/requirement of blackface is racist.

Catering to the weak minded and thin skinned is never appropriate action.

You never heard me say anything about how Zulu should change what they do. If an individual wishes to participate in something others consider racist, that is their choice. My opinion does not matter as far as an individual is concerned. My concern is a group which represents the university (in uniform) choosing to participate in something that so many view as racist.

And here is the Textbook example as to why "Social" Justice is so absurd.

Have you ever read 1984?

It's not a story of a "better" tomorrow. It's was a warning and we are falling directly into the plot line because of idiots like you.

Listen. I've read 1984. I voted for Trump. I'm a lifelong Republican. I hate the PC culture. And, I also hate hypocrisy. Whatever is (according to society) wrong for white people, should also be wrong for black people.

You have waaaaaaaaaaay too much respect for our society. There are some real wastes of space and mutants running around this earth. You hitched your fricking horse to a known POS race baiter earlier in this thread. Your opinion is toilet paper homey.

You did not say "on Mardi Gras day" in your statement to "roux." "roux" was commenting on the quality of Zulu with an added descriptor "on Mardi Gras day." Since your comment was also about the quality of parades, you should have added "on Mardi Gras day" if you were making that a central theme of your comment.

Wrong....I have already explained that I was citing information from respected news publications (Advocate & WWL). As I said earlier, If "they" thought it was newsworthy enough to print, I thought it was newsworthy enough to cite.

Just because it's newsworthy to them, doesn't mean you have to agree with it or give it a high level of significance/respect.

You've been told repeatedly why the facepainting done at Zulu is not "blackface" yet you keep ignoring it.

There is a national dialogue regarding blackface right now and there are some people who have issues with Zulu. That doesn't defacto mean what Zulu is doing is morally or socially wrong.

Many times, society rushes to judgment without gathering all the facts or history behind something. Look at the picture I posted of Drake in blackface. You'd assume that was wrong and he should be publicly ridiculed for that, right? But the facts behind that picture show he was actually working on a movie portraying the negative history behind blackface.

You really need to stop blindly following the masses. The masses and the media were quick to judge in the Jussie Smollett situation and they all were left with egg on their face.

WOW.....so, a racist act (blackface) is less racist if a person of color thinks it is OK? I call BS on all of this.

OP sounds like the media: "some say","some think", "some believe".
If "some" are offended you must submit to "their" FEELINGS.
