“Possibly the highest-spending roster ever in CFB”

I saw another thread on this; so decided to do some research and provide a ranking. Based on my research we are considered to be the highest Tier 1 Superteam. With CLK at the helm; my expectations have never been higher in April.
?? Top 10 College Football Teams by Roster Spending (2026 est.)
?? Tier 1: $30M–$40M+ “Superteams”
LSU Tigers football — ~$40M+
Reported as possibly the highest-spending roster ever in CFB
Texas Longhorns football — ~$30M–$35M
Massive NIL + elite QB deals (e.g., Arch Manning structure)
Ohio State Buckeyes football — ~$25M–$30M
Previously ~$20M title roster; rising fast
Miami Hurricanes football — ~$25M–$30M
Known for aggressive QB and transfer spending
?? Tier 2: $20M–$30M Contenders
Texas Tech Red Raiders football — ~$25M+
Reportedly surpassing Alabama-level spending
USC Trojans football — ~$20M–$25M
Widely cited by insiders as top recruiting spender
Oregon Ducks football — ~$20M–$25M
Nike-backed NIL ecosystem drives spending
Texas A&M Aggies football — ~$20M–$25M
Longtime big spender in NIL era
?? Tier 3: $15M–$20M High-End Programs
Alabama Crimson Tide football — ~$15M+
Still elite, but no longer #1 spender
Georgia Bulldogs football — ~$15M–$20M
More efficient spending vs. pure volume

We better take care of business against Clemson....can you imagine a game 1 loss this year? I don't even wanna think about it.

Everyone keeps focusing on the $$ number. But no one wants to talk about the amount of roster we had to replace. It was a complete overhaul. It necessitated the amount of money we spent in order to be remotely competitive next season.

95% of the posters on this board see no problem with this.
Nor do they see a problem with the fact that they see no problem with it.

Curious where you dug up some of the numbers for your research?

You’re right. I see no problem in how rich people decide to spend their money. If they want to spend it to make my favorite football good? Awesome.
Cause god knows it isn’t being spent to fix the roads in this god forsaken state.

CFB is money ball now. LSU is playing the game to win because LSU is a championship program. The 5% who have a problem with it are phaggots.

It’s not your money. It belongs to the rich people who made it. I understand it might make you envious, but that’s not their problem. Being poor or middle class doesn’t somehow make you morally superior. Give your money and time the way you choose to based on your values.

This is all speculation and people talking about made up, speculative figures.
I have not seen a single contract, or a single player making a valid claim about what they are being paid.
All I have seen is “NIL VALUATIONS”… and speculation. And “it’s been reported that X team has spent X amount” but when you press for sources, the source is some other person throwing out a speculative number, that pulled from someone else’s speculative number, etc….
I’m reporting that
Texas’ roster is $50 mil.
UGA is $100 mil.
ole Miss roster is 600 pesos….Prove me wrong…
Lol

Is the $40,000,000+ just for incoming players? I was under the impression this was for the full 2026 roster.

Nobody knows the actual numbers. Or at least the very few people who do, aren't sharing that info with wherever you did your research. LSU is obviously spending a lot of money, but anybody who tells you what LSU plus everybody else is spending, is probably full of shite.

This 95% figure is just as bogus (and just as valid) as the 40 million number.
Completely and utterly pulled out of someone’s arse.
It’s MEANINGLESS…

In 2 years 40 mil will be peanuts.
This is a mountain out of a molehill.
It’s grow or die right now.

That we know of. Doesn't mean that before nil there wasn't other teams spending a lot.

Ok. Do you think they are going to take pay cuts next year or do you think the good young players we’ll have aren’t going to want crazy money next year too?
There’s no “you’re looking at it all wrong” angle here.

I feel lucky then. Red river parish the past couple of years has gotten a lot of nice smooth roads. Must be the oil and gas companies paying for it.

Clemson has zero chance of winning that game. I’d bet my retirement on it.

Are you expecting an undefeated season this year just because LSU has a huge player payroll and grossly overpaid head coach? I won’t be surprised if LSU goes 8-4/7-5 this year based on the schedule and number of position players that had to be replaced.
