can you imagine a game 1 loss this year? I don't even wanna think about it.
You mean just like we have every year under BK and it was hand waved away by his defenders here?

Are you expecting an undefeated season this year just because LSU has a huge player payroll and grossly overpaid head coach?
We had to replace a lot of the roster which is expensive. Ole Miss and Florida both offered Kiffin more than LSU did.
10-2 and playoffs

Hiring a bunch of transfers should only be for filling holes in a roster not the end all. Going forward LSU needs to start building from the High school ranks that's how all the Top schools maintain being top schools in college football. I believe Lane knows this and one of the reasons he left for the LSU job.

LSU Tigers football — ~$40M+
Reported as possibly the highest-spending roster ever in CFB
Texas Longhorns football — ~$30M–$35M
Massive NIL + elite QB deals (e.g., Arch Manning structure)
Ohio State Buckeyes football — ~$25M–$30M
Previously ~$20M title roster; rising fast
Miami Hurricanes football — ~$25M–$30M
Known for aggressive QB and transfer spending
every team now has more turnover than prior to NIL, but i'm curious if our outspending these teams has more to do with the combination of a coaching change along with a pretty massive roster overhaul. i'm sure OSU and Miami had their share of NFL departures and transfers out, but i'd be curious if they had to rebuild as much as we did.
I'm sure CLK will spend annually, but, once he's been here a bit and has retooled the roster to his systems, i don't know if we're spending $40M+ annually, seems like it had more to do with new staff along with an almost complete roster rebuild.

Propaganda?

It ABSOLUTLY has to do with the coaching change and roster turnover. It’s why the majority of the transfers Lane took have multiple years of eligibility left. Not a team of 1 year mercenaries. It’s also the reason Lane is working on his best HS recruiting class ever.

CFB is money ball now. LSU is playing the game to win because LSU is a championship program. The 5% who have a problem with it are phaggots.
Now sure, I'm happy my team will get good players, but my emotional attachment to LSU football is drastically lower than it was 5 years ago. And I've loved LSU football for 50+ years.
But the game I loved is gone. And that's a shame.

I’m guessing college football will have a new “highest-spending roster ever” each year.

Even though Clemson is "rebuilding", it's still going to be a tough game because they have quality athletes. Dabo has reshaped his staff. Lane has an entirely new roster and there is no "gimme" game to work out the bugs.
On the other hand, Lane has assembled the talent and what appears to be a formidable coaching staff. Someone called him an offensive savant and I believe that. He and Weiss will have a good game plan for certain.
Baker's D should thrive with the talent infusion.
It's in Tiger Stadium and the fans are going to be jacked.

What percentage of the money is calculated as a lump sum instead of a total multi year salary? Is there a signing bonus situation? None of these questions can be answered because this 40 million dollar number is unsubstantiated itself. I would like to see a simple chart showing every team makeup before and after transfer portal additions. I bet LSU is in the top 5 of that explaining alot of spending.

We hear this every year about some school, but the fact is no one can verify any of it so it doesn't mean anything.

Where are you sourcing those cost figures. I think some could be not so accurate.

Who are reporting these numbers and where are they coming from?
