no one wants to talk about the amount of roster we had to replace. It was a complete overhaul. It necessitated the amount of money we spent in order to be remotely competitive next season.
LSU also spent on developmental players who will barely see the field year 1 because of the roster overhaul from a coaching change. I doubt $40Mil in one year will be seen again for quite some time:

1 - LSU front loaded the revenue share during the BK era, so Kiffin decided to use the savings in year 1. I think the developmental players alluded to before used up this money.
2 - Lane Kiffin excitement generated a ton of new money. Not sure that kind of excitement can be replicated again.
3 - Leavitt’s injury could have ruined a great roster (see Texas Tech now). They had to protect the investment and decided to pursue Longstreet.
4 - The roster was pretty much complete, money spent, and Umanmielen and Seaton became available as realistic gets. Kiffin and the Governor sold donors to get a few extra Mil.

Those 4 things won’t all happen every year, so I expect the NIL and Rev Share totals to be about $30Mil annually. If $40Mil is the annual budget, we are in for a serious treat.

Who cares, it’s our new coaches first year. He had to rebuilt the roster. Hopefully we have a team at least worth watching this year.

95% of the posters on this board see no problem with this.

Who am I to tell those with tons of money how they should spend their tons of money? Why should I see any problems with what they spend it on?

Do I like or agree with the NIL stuff? No, but it’s here and I hope to enjoy the results when the upcoming season kicks off and I thank them for keeping LSU athletics on a level playing field.
