True but given that they broke it down into distinct groups, too 4 getting a bye, next 4 getting a home game, last 4 just happy to be there, I think this is the best option to keep the season as relevant as possible.

ust off the top of my head: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2012, and 2018 teams would have all probably made it as at large in addition to 2001, 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2019 making it in as SEC Champion.

The MSB already did the calculations. The Big 5 SEC teams basically all made it in about every other year on average. Alabama would've made it 17/20 times.

Good. 4 teams isn’t a “playoff”, it’s a play-in.

We need a more exciting post season in CFB.

Everything else in society is going to shite. It was only a matter of time until they watered down college football regular season

I’m guessing they would cut some of the non conference games. I can’t imagine college players playing 17 games

They better incentivize the players or you're going to have a lot more sit out to avoid injury.

I'm all for expanding the playoffs, but 12 is too many. 8 is perfect, and only increases the time by one round.

12 dilutes it too much.

I mean that's gotta be to many right? Conference only? Cut out the other bs and make regular season what 8-10games? 15games is a lot @ this point. 17 is kinda crazy.

Expanded playoffs is great for college football. You were on the verge meaningless regular seasons for the vast majority of teams and mass op outs in the second half of the season.

Are you kidding? Over 60 in basketball and baseball and you’re talking dilution with 12 in football. If anything go more like 16. You have to keep most teams in the mix for the majority of the season or college football is done. FCS does 24 and it works out pretty well.

False. Question: how has the four team playoff been bad for the sport ?

I like it more than the BCS system

No problems with this, as already mention this placates smaller conferences and generates more money. If you don't know this is about the bucks then you don't know college football.

And nobody was beating LSU in a 12 team playoff in 2006. That's forever a lost national championship, in my mind. We probably avenge one of our bullshite losses from that season during the playoff, too.

Eliminating some bowls is a good thing. The lower tiered bowls are pretty much a participation trophy at this point.
