re: 16 teams ... no byes

No sisters of the poor teams

No conference championships. P4 champs go automatically using regular season tiebreakers, Rest of 16 field is based on highest ranked teams. No DEI for non P4 teams like James Madison or Tulane. This will force non P4 schools to to schedule more than 1 non conference P4 team.
NCAA CFP selection committee doesn’t deserve a classy response. They have totally f’d up the playoff selection process. You have lower ranked teams in James Madison and Tulane with cupcake schedules getting in and teams like Vandy, Notre Dame, and Texas that are higher ranked with significantly harder schedules left out. This is not the 12 best FBS teams in the country. I thought this country was done with DEI hires.
Bowl games have been irrelevant for years now. Just do away with the bowls and expand the playoffs to 16 or more. Bowls in 2025 mean absolutely nothing. With NIL, the portal, and the NFL players need something to play for in the postseason.

Replace the conference championship games with first round home game for 16 team CFP.

This is the correct answer

Probably the worst coach on Kelly’s staff considering this year’s crash and burn, and last year’s underachievement with all the oline NFL draft picks.
All joking aside, it seems like all these coaches are turning down Tulane.
If you’re going to allow these very weak conference teams in, the playoffs definitely need to be expanded.
For a conference championship and a berth in the CFP. Is this an alternate universe?
You even having to ask this shows how ridiculous it is that Tulane will be in the CFP. A team that got blown out by 35 to their only ranked opponent, and then lost to 6-6 Texas San Antonio (who?). And is playing a conference championship game against North Texas (are they really a FBS team?).

Seems like Golding is permanent.

I am in the minority and think Sumrall will turn out to be a good hire. I would flip #2 and #3

Most people don’t realize he that Sumrall took over from a Willie Fritz team that won the American conference with 11 and 12 win seasons in his last 2 years.
Without an outstanding OC Golding will crash.

He’s coming because the timing is perfect with Ole Miss’s very favorable schedule. Next year he probably goes 9-3 with no playoffs and his stock drops significantly.

I agree except for Frank. No position group on this offense is performing well.

Including Frank’s rb group.

It's probably a matter of coaching the CFP game or not.

Basically the AD probably believes he is leaving but wants him to stay until after the egg bowl to get a win and assure a playoff berth.
Should be at least 16 if not more.
Every other college football divsion, college basketball/baseball, the NFL, NBA, and MLB have a lot higher total teams to playoff ratio.
It's beyond time to get rid of meaningless bowls and really expand the playoffs.
The transfer portal and NIL changed everything. Past proven coaches are dinosaurs. Just ask Saban.
