re: Why bother with team rankings

Rankings should solely be based on who signs with you, just like high school recruiting rankings.

Maybe he can take credit for Johnson, but Mulkey wanted to come home.
Frank Wilson on the sideline jinxed them

He's such a great coach LOL

Yeah it’s basically a pro league now. So it needs to be run like a pro league. Commissioner, rules, salary cap, etc. What we have now has become stupid.
It’s worse than a pro league. No contracts, no commitment, no consequences. Never thought I’d see the day where I would rather the NFL over college football. Pre portal/NIL I would rarely watch any NFL game other than the Saints.
College needs NFL type structure

Enforceable contracts that provide a commitment to the team. Multiply year for most players. This is an absolute nightmare for coaches/teams. The whole team can leave every year. This is a true clown show. You need some consistency with contracts. Think of the Saints with the rookie QB Shough. If the Saints were a college team he would probably be gone after showing great late season improvement.

Three years? I think you need to check the post right before yours for the answer.
Welcome to the new era

Compare this Indiana team to the pre portal/NIL Indiana teams. Night and day. Beats defending natty champ Ohio State for the Big 10, then proceeds to destroy Alabama in the playoff game. They were a big 10 doormat pre portal/NIL.

Players should 100% get paid considering the money they are generating for the universities. The, essentially, unlimited transfer portal is dumb though and really fricks everything up.
I agree, many fans think it's players getting paid that's the problem, is not. The unlimited portal creates a no comittment, no consequences situation that's essentially worse than the NFL

You're fricking insane. If you don't want byes. Make it 8. 12 is already too many.
To many? I guess you don’t watch basketball or baseball that both have 64!
FCS football has 24. NFL has 14 in only a 32 team league. Hate to break it to you but FBS football has been the outlier.
The case to go to 16
Posted by da prophet on 12/31/25 at 9:59 pm
1. No teams get byes
2. more room for good deserving P4 teams to get in if the CFP remains intent on guaranteeing G6 teams.
If it were up to me, I’d go to 24 and do away with all the lesser bowls, use the major bowls in the playoff system. Either you play in the postseason for something or you sit home.

Go to 16, problem solved.

Bowl games certainly don’t have the prestige they once did. I’m sure they could cut a couple of them. But I also like that some of the smaller schools get a chance to play, earn money for their program, and players get the experience and the swag. Just remember the excitement of going to the independence bowl. I was Thrilled.
I admit I used to love going to bowl games. Those days are long gone. I’d much rather them expand the playoffs and see LSU get a chance at a natty, or the season just end if it’s mediocre.

Post the numbers. I have no idea what kind of money these bowl games bring in. Do you?
Fans don’t care about the numbers. They care that the game is meaningless and is in most cases between 2 teams with opt out replacements. I wish the attendance would go to 0. Delete meaningless bowls and expand the playoff field. Only play meaningful post season games. The FCS has 24 playoff teams, no bowls.
Will never understand the shotgun with less than a yard.

Indiana is the #1 team in the country with a Heisman QB. 2023 they were 3-9
It’s not like the old days with the new transfer portal. Indiana’s story should tell you everything you need to know. Even Brian Kelly took a team with 30 something returning scholarship players to the SEC championship game the next year.
Between opt outs and horrible officiating
Posted by da prophet on 12/27/25 at 10:38 pm
Just expand the playoffs and do away with these bowls. To make matters worse LSU aways seems to have way more opt outs than the opponent. Our backup QB is playing against A&M’s former starting QB. Our defense has mostly 2nd teamers.

Power 4 conference champ Duke lost to poor little DEI Tulane. Would they have fared any better on the road at Ole Miss or Oregon today?
You’re missing the point, the committee needs to go back to a bcs type ranking. This DEI BS is embarrassing.

I guess you don't realize how much of a talent difference there is. Hell UT San Antonio beat Tulane this year by double digits....OM blew them out bigtime, both times. OM got by LSU by 5. Every single SEC team would be favored.
And to make matters worse James Madison is worse than Tulane.

12 is not the problem it’s the 12 best. Not one person that seriously follows college football would objectively say Tulane or James Madison is one of the top 12 teams.

Wrong, there are too many DEI teams, 2 and there should be 0.

The committee itself is woke and ignorant. Leaving out Notre Dame and Vanderbilt was nuts. We've waited decades for playoffs and we have an incompetent committee pairing these teams? One step forward. Two steps back.
Leaving them out for a 2 loss 20th Tulane team and a 24th ranked James Madison team is the travesty. Think how much better Notre Dame - Ole Miss and Vandy - Oregon games would have been.
