Have you ever heard of a team doing this with success on OL?

Sure, on DL this is what everyone does.

But not on OL, you want the same 5 start to finish

The obvious implication here is that LSU doesn't know who the 5 are. They are going to give multiple guys shots until that changes.

I think we are obviously talking about LG. I think we are still talking about RT as well...and maybe RG.

If you're complaining about having 8 guys worthy of playing, I implore you to come be a Mississippi State fan and let me know how your tune changes.

I have zero problem with this. One position I trust BK is Oline. Cohesion as a unit could be a concern but having fresh bodies rotating against a good front 7 could play out in our favor. It’s not like they running them in like defense. Could look at it as we have too much talent and they haven’t separated.

I think when we have to run the ball you will see Echols and Curne in the game.

Also, veterans can play 60 minutes and not make a bunch of mental mistakes. Freshmen need pine time to reset their brains.

All that means is they want to see these guys in live play before they pick their top 5. It’s better to have clear cut starters.

Not necessarily, when I was in high school we had two very good complete lines, they called us 1A and 1B one was most all seniors the other almost all junior. I was a junior on 1B. They always started but we always played a couple of series and any time a lineman was gassed, nicked etc we subbed in immediately. I got plenty of snaps with 1A. It was good enough for a championship and we were favored to repeat the next year but a HC changed killed it. It wasn’t the seniors sucked it was that we were exceptional juniors, 4 of the five us were all conference etc in Junior high and the 5th was me and I was all conference as a senior. Also, line play is a group effort. A group of 3 stars that works well as a group is way better than all five stars out of sync and I think these guys are 4/5 stars. Let’s home that’s the situation

We struggled to run the ball last year and lost both of our offensive tackles

I don't think there is a rotation of 8 because they're all awesome. It could be the achilles heel of the team.

This is Brad Davis' prove it year, IMO. If the OL is trash again, he's gotta go.

It's routine and 8 is generally the number OL coaches have in their "2 deep". Our OL is a concern but this is an attempt to make a routine development into a sign of trouble. All we can do is hope they do well enough with the lights on for us to win the game. If playing 8 guys gets us there then good.

I don't think it's bad because if DJ Chester was a starter on last year's offensive line, but now he's running with 2nd string, that is not a bad statement taken at face value right there. Means the OLine 5th spot last year does not make the starting 5 on this year's Oline.

Additionally, these guys are all 4 stars. It's not like we will have literally 0 bodies, and Clemson just has 4 to 5 free rushers every down. These guys are still 4 stars. Maybe it's not as good as last year, but it will certainly not be the case that Nuss will never be able to get a pass off.

They played the comment on my drive home yesterday and what he actually said was 6 to 7 and maybe even 8. But yeah, yeah that seems apart from the norm of how things typically go with O-lines, but we'll see.
