Petition to move the bench to the other side of the court in the PMAC

It’s great and all to see the PMAC finally get baseline and sideline chairs. But can we please move the benches to the other side of the court? I feel like this is standard in every other arena but the only thing we get to see as lsu fans are the geriatrics sitting the whole game.

The benches used to be on that side until they built the practice facility behind the PMAC. LSU moved the benches to the current side so they'd be on the same side as the practice facility and the LSU bench would be right by the portal to it.
As if that matters. No idea why it was a big deal to have to cross the court. It was a stupid Trent Johnson idea if that explains it.

Drives me crazier than it should. Not a fan.

Not saying this is the case for LSU but some college teams put the benches on same side of the camera so the other side can be filled with nothing but your own fans. The section behind the visitors bench has some reserved seating for visiting fans.
Also I’m not sure if it is a NCAA rule but it is tradition in basketball for the home team to be to the right of the scoring table. If LSU were to go to the opposite side they would be on the complete opposite corner of their locker room.

Who gives AF if the bench is on the complete opposite side?
What difference would that make? They have to walk 30 more feet?

It’s most likely just has to do with accessibility to everything in locker rooms. If that’s the case then they should just move the camera decks to the opposite side.

Y’all remember when Wade complained about wasted steps and moves all the time? Things like that is exactly what he was talking about. It may seem minor but a bunch of small things add up.
Nevermind if a player is injured and had to go to the locker room and has to walk all the way around the court to get back to the bench if they come back.
Let’s just put the baseball clubhouse in right field. No need to have easy access to the locker room. The fans want to see the benches on the tv.

Why can’t we just move the camera?

I really think you are overthinking this. He has just as good a chance getting hurt in the far corner of the court regardless of the location of the benches.
My request is for aesthetic appeal.
And if that’s too much of an issue, let’s just move the camera.

But if he or she needs to go to the locker room to get taped up or whatever they would have to walk around the entire court to get back to the bench.
Flipping the cameras and court is the more realistic option

The benches used to be on that side until they built the practice facility behind the PMAC.

Wouldn't the half court LSU logo be upside down if the camera switched sides? I guess we could paint the logo the other way to match? I don't know.

I don't think the side the benches were on has changed. The home & visiting benches just switched places on the same sideline a couple decades ago. LSU men's bench used to sit where the visiting team bench is now.
The PMAC TV cameras switched sides of the arena a while ago though, which is when the TV broadcasts began showing the team benches on the near sideline instead of the opposite side like most arenas.

There is absolutely no reason to move the benches. This is one more example of the stupid focus on nonsense by some of you people. There are probably some logistics with the scoring table and clock operator setup on that side of the court. The benches were switched to the opposite side of the scoring table when the practice facility was built for easier access to the dressing room. The Tigers dressing room was always on the southwest corner until then. Lets focus on getting better player to sit on that bench and forget about where it is. located.

This is not true. All they did was move the cameras to the other side.
