She's the 8th highest-paid softball coach in the country. Makes $100,000 less than the #2 spot.

Recruiting ranking -
2026 - #3
2025 - #7
2024 - #3
2023 - #15

I really don't give a shite about softball, but she's clearly underachieving based on the resources provided.

She isn’t the 8th highest paid coach in the country, maybe the 8th highest in the SEC. Gasso, White, Walton, Ford, Weekly, Deifel, Murphy all make more than Torina. UCLA, Ok State, Florida St all make more. The 26 class which will be there in August is the only class that has legit high level players that were offered by schools like Florida, Oklahoma , UCLA etc. the other classes were travel ball daddy’s getting their kids ranked.

Now examine Johnson's baseball teams through the same lens and share with us what you find. I bet your cognitive dissonance will never allow for it. Torina is one of the best coaches in the country. You, on the other hand, my friend (I’m being facetious, I don’t like you), are not an elite thinker.

This has been copy and pasted every year in May

A&M, Bama, OU, and Texas all have great softball programs and we just run in place.

A&M? The same A&M that got kicked by a team LSU beat 35-2? The same A&M that was the overall number 1 seed and got beat by Liberty? They underachieve worse than LSU

Best in the country? What are the qualifications for that? WCWS appearances? If so, she hasn’t been one of the best since 2017. She’s not even one of the best in the SEC. Since she’s been here there has been 5 different conference champs and 9 different tournament champs. You know who has none of those titles? I’ll let you guess. She is the definition of mediocrity.

Let's all settle down. This was a SEC tournament game that didn't mean much at all - except for a better seed.

The real season begins next weekend. Give them a chance.

She hasnt made the WCWS since 2017, and we sure dont look like we're going to this year once again.

Personally dont follow women's softball, but with the recruiting she supposedly does the results dont match up.

Not sure how you defend not making the WCWS after nearly a decade if we dont make it this year. If she doesnt make it out a regional again; then that's 4 of past 5 year snot even making it to super either.

There's a pretty clear downward trajectory in the womens softball program under her time here, regardless of whatever recruiting has gotten more exciting in recent years...hasnt materialized to more wins. We've become Texas A&M in softball without even the SEC wins their new coach has been getting.

I would say since you have plenty on here who complain about both. Seems like a silly question. If money was an issue they wouldn't be paying Beth or Mulkey what they are.

There are at least 5 dead weight coaches at LSU who need their pink slips now. Beth is easily in that clan.

she’s one of the highest paid softball coaches in America at just over 500k a year. For that kind of scratch I’d except more CWWS appearances. It’s been almost a decade ( 2017). I like Beth and she has turned the season around but her seat has to start getting warm

LSU is geographically located in a nice hotbed of Softball. If we aren't good in softball, that is a problem. If we're not above average in softball, that is a problem. I think that Beth has been teetering on above average, with a sprinkle of Elite every so often.

I like her. Keep it going.

I'm curious to see who those 5 are... not agreeing or disagreeing, just curious.

softball coaches aren't paid that much money is the takeaway from this. The staff is the 7th highest paid staff in the LSU AD. It's behind Football, mens and womens basketball, baseball, gymnastics and Track and Field. The total revenue for the program is about the same as Torina's salary.

If you take Oklahoma out of the equation, SEC softball coaching salaries range from $255k to $625k. A range of $370k from the lowest paid to the second highest paid is very small. Oklahoma is the only program lighting money on fire for women's softball. That sport generated fewer total revenues last year ($470k) than Torina's salary alone ($505k).

Salaries are what they are, negotiations between employee and employer. It doesn’t matter if you’re the highest paid employee or lowest, your job expectations don’t change. She ain’t meeting the typical fans expectations. The problem may be that she is meeting the employers expectations.
It does make for interesting conversations.
