Yes that team that finished 14th out of 15 teams, that won’t make it to a regional but hey, they did beat A&M. I’ll put that in the moral victory column. I guess anything really can be sugarcoated and look yummy through purple glasses.

Softball Nikki should have been replaced already

She's hanging on way too long like Nikki Fargas did.

Get out of here Queen Mediocrity.. The Jig is up.

All you people who want her fired is it because of no championships ? If so are you willing to pay the next coach more and the AD losing more money even if you get championships.

The program has been stagnant for nearly a decade, I get the impression that our diehard softball fans are ok with that because they are a little too close to the program, in the sense that they are fighting for Torina out of some sense of familial loyalty to her and the staff . It is like y'all want to guard this tight-knit softball family you feel like youve become a part of over the last 5-7 years or so. The feeling is understandable but mucking around in the status quo for another few seasons will only entrench further the lack of interest in the program that has been steadily growing over the last 5 years, that y'all say you do not like and yet many of you are fighting to keep by digging your heels in for the status quo

I get the feeling some of you would rather not upset the apple cart and risk that intimate connection you feel like you have to the program even if it means another 10 years of a slightly above average softball stupor

If you legitimately want the fanbase to grow, and the NIL support to grow, even if it means you are just one of many many more faces in the crowd, then things are going to have to be shaken up and a risk is going to have to be taken by the athletic dept. Your only shot of injecting excitement into the program again is to break the monotony and give the less diehard fans a reason to be excited. I cannot think of a more boring and predictable program at LSU right now than LSU softball

Hopefully she surprises us all and makes the CWS this year and wins a game or 2, but if the same story repeats itself for what, a 9th season? You have got to pull the plug

If you enter the NIL era as a stagnant program in a niche sport, you cannot expect or demand NIL support, at that point you have to earn it on the field., and it will be harder to do than it was prior to NIL, which is why this problem should have been addressed prior to or at the beginning of the NIL era

Never mind. This place is a cesspool just like the Lair... I quit that place and my days are so much better. I think Im going to stay away from here too because I really have come to the point that I have no interest in LSU softball anymore.

Like Texas Tech? They were worse than stagnant!! Like Indiana football? Give Beth 3 mil like TT has and you will get the results you ask for. You guys want her to win the WS then give money, it doesn’t work that way in today’s world

Like Indiana taking a risk on a new coach from a lower tier? And mark cuban paying for their heisman qb? Guess what LSU just did for football, hired a new coach and got some billionaires and millionaires to buy a $40 mill roster for him

I specifically said niche sport for a reason, football is literally the only big time money maker for a majority of athletic departments in college football. You HAVE to invest in football or your athletic dept is in life support if not already dead. Poor comparison

And Texas tech didn’t give that money to a coach that is staring down the barrel of a 9th consecutive season of post season futility at the same school. This is their coaches 2nd season. They invested that money the same time they hired an up and coming coach from a smaller conference that won his conference championship 6x’s while winning the conference tournament 4x’s

Had Beth not been stagnant prior to the modern NIL era I may be more sympathetic to your argument

You may not want to use examples of schools that invested big time NIL dollars at the same time they were hiring new coaches or the season after their new coach proved to be successful

Dont let this place do that to you. It is just an echo chamber of dolts who dont care when the program is winning but want to bitch if it isn't.

A loss to Georgia is not the end of the world.

I mean it’s to be expected that a coach with 8 and possibly 9 consecutive seasons without post season success will be criticized heavily and rightfully so

That’s just part of sports, got to roll with the punches

Glasco had never won a thing anywhere and they gave him 3 mil. Beth has had recent success just not recent WS success. I have heard that LSU ought to chase Courtney Deifel, she has been at Arkansas for 11 yrs no WS, would that be ok for a 500k coach. As I have stated let Beth finish the contract and evaluate the program at that time.

He was about as successful as you could possibly be at a mid major in softball in the last 25+ years 300-88 record, 6 consecutive conference championships, won the conference ever year he was a head coach there and threw in 4 tournament titles to boot

Giving that guy an opportunity at a school with more resources sounds pretty exciting to me

Let Beth run out her contract that’s fine, not a wild take but just because she is under contract doesn’t mean she is immune to criticism and has not earned a lot of it.

The fact that people think criticizing Beth or thinking we should move on from her is some kind of wild take that they should take offense to seems absurd to me

Doesn’t offend me at all, I just don’t think we should pay 1.2 million for softball buyout. I do agree Beth is slowly running this program into the ground

That’s true they have one of the best recruiting classes in the country coming in, but they need to get more aggressive at the plate. They just can’t keep watching strikes go right down the middle of the plate and get behind an account. They have to be aggressive at the plate.

Amen she doesn’t. She just can’t recruit the type of hitters that she needs to win in the SEC to beat the upper teams in the SEC. You have to hit the ball if you’re gonna be to Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, Georgia you’ve got to hit and out of conference. You’re gonna have to beat UCLA. LSU CAN’T HIT LIKE THEY CAN.

You don’t have anything to worry about. The BK and MM buyouts have just about exhausted the buyout funds.

No, I’ve watched LSU softball since Beth Torina got there thank you very much and I’ve watched her not be able to get hitters to come to LSU regardless of the ballpark and all this stuff that you can’t hit home runs there. Postseason losses to Minnesota UL Texas Tech before Texas Tech was good southeastern Louisiana. I’ll say it again southeastern Louisiana at home San Diego State Cal State Fullerton Stanford in three games at Stanford regional LSU scored all their runs in one inning. They didn’t score again the last two games they were shot out both games so don’t tell me how many LSU softball games I’ve watched. I watched a lot more than you obviously idiot

Oh and I guess you forgot a few years ago when LSU played at Florida Florida played the whole game without a right fielder and they run ruled LSU if that’s not a slap in the face and disrespect about how bad your team can’t hit Florida just showed you watch some more softball dude

Fortunately for Beth, we have enough on our plate right now without having to worry about softball.

They’d probably let her walk if her contract was up. But it’s not, and they aren’t buying her out.
