Have we had one play in pistol or under center.
I've wondered too why there is more play action in college. I've been hoping some play action would start happening to slow down the rush a half second.
If the DL is looking in the backfield to figure out if the RB has the ball, it slows them down a hair, instead of just bull rushing the pocket.
Yes it takes the QB's eyes away from the WR's so they have to be efficient in their pre snap reads and know what the defense is giving them.

Not really. It’s only his 4th game coming up with Texas A&M.

3rd game in a new system, give the guy a break. Players improve. He missed 1/2 a season last year. JHC some of y'all don't understand development.

You had me until this
The guy missed all of spring ball. All of the QBs in LK’s system have progressed as passers over the years. I have confidence with more reps and coaching Sam will improve.

He missed most of ‘25, spring and fall camp.
I think the game will slow down for him. He’s not back to being comfortable in the pocket. I think film study and some footwork work will benefit him this weekend.
Just don’t let Reed run and we’ve got this.

Through his first 3 games Joe Burrow had a 46% completion rating. And we all know Jayden was a run only guy that couldn't throw and should be sat. Let's not do this again, please.

Leavitt was the starter of a team the went to the playoffs. Should we not expect more from him than Burrow who was never a starter before coming to LSU?

In college football terms he is a veteran player with significant big game experience. In a sport where the margins for success are fairly tight and roster movement is the norm, you aren't signing a guy like that, for what LSU paid, with the expectation that he'll need several games to "develop".
Now, I do think it takes a few games for coaches to get a good sense of their team's/players' strengths and weaknesses. So you may start to see some changes in the overall approach to try to play more to the QBs strengths and weaknesses. In a perfect world he comes in and fits the "system". But we don't live in a perfect world and you might start to see the system develop to fit him.

He’s also coming back from a lisfranc injury where he has to regain trust in that plant foot. I think he will really get going in the next few weeks.

If you go listen to his coach show last week, he talks about why he doesn’t run plays under center. Don’t expect to see it much.

Daniels is a reasonable comp.
Not Burrow. Burrow was a guy who had never played a meaningful snap in his career when he started for LSU in game 1...in an antiquated offensively scheme that wasn't going to allow any QB to have consistent success. That is not comparable to Leavitt, at all.

There is far more stress placed on the foot in running and making hard cuts than throwing a pass. Leavitt hasn't been hesitant to do any of that in the first 3 games. I'd say "concern" over the foot seems to be a non-factor

Coming off an injury where he missed half a season, missed all of spring, and in a new system. There is going to be growing pains.

Burrow’s Oline won Joe Moore award.
I get what you’re saying but Burrow won that award. Sam Leavitt behind that OL wouldn’t look much different. It was a highly overrated OL.

Do I need to list the 40% of the top NFL receivers that Burrow and Daniels had for you dumbasses?
Leavitt was missing wide open guys though, on big plays too, including one that could’ve tied the game. You could have Jerry Rice, chase, Jefferson and Nabers on the field and it wouldn’t mean anything with Leavitt.
The only glimmer of hope I can reasonably see without any bias, is that JD had a lot of the same problems his first season, but it’s sad we might have to wait that long.

Give the young man some time to adjust. Sounds like you thought he would walk in, game 1, and be Joe Burrow.
1. SEC road game.
2. Against a team (almost to the person) who had a personal vendetta out against your team.
3. At night and national game of the week.
4. OL that really have had better games.
So yeah, he is 2-1. Nothing but upside once he catches his breath and relaxes.
Sometimes you guys act like he just picked up a football for the first time coming to LSU. His criticism is very much warranted and we're 2-1 as a result of his play.
He's a handsomely paid professional so suck it up and play better. If not, your backups are breathing down your neck for an opportunity.

Sam Leavitt uses LSU's specialized virtual reality (VR) training software to take mental reps and speed up his processing on the field. How Leavitt Uses VR at LSUMental Reps During Recovery: Leavitt utilized LSU's virtual reality equipment to log mental reps while recovering from a Lisfranc injury that kept him out of spring practice. The "Flight Simulator" Tech: LSU uses an advanced, realistic VR training platform (originally highlighted during Jayden Daniels' Heisman run) that places quarterbacks inside live, high-speed game environments with realistic player movement and accurate stadium colors.Speeding Up the Game: The technology allows players to experience game action faster in the headset so that the actual game slows down for them once they step onto the physical turf.Program Cornerstone: Head coach Lane Kiffin has praised the VR program as an essential "secret weapon" for in-season preparation and a major selling point in recruiting.
He is.
