If this were true, then:
Joe Burrow would be a 46% completions, 180 yards/game kind of guy.
Jayden would be a 185 yards/game with only 6 yards per attempt kind of guy.
Jaxson Dart would be a 180 yards/game kind of guy against bad competition.
Guys are allowed to develop, and Lane Kiffin has shown with Corral, Dart and even going all the way back to Jake Coker and Blake Sims at Alabama that he can take a guy struggling at QB and turn it into some of the most productive QB play in the country.

Simple I believe Kiffin will make Leavitt into a 70 + percent passer opposed to the 60 percent he is now.Sam's mental clock is stuck in overdrive so he reverts back to running...that don't work against the SEC talent.

quote:I disagree. The lisfranc injury was to his plant foot. When he’s running and juking, he doesn’t really have time to think and worry. When he plants that foot, he may subconsciously be hesitating as he’s still building trust in the support. You’re driving that plant foot hard into the ground while transferring force from the back leg through the hips and torso. I really think he’s still getting his mechanics and timing down.
There is far more stress placed on the foot in running and making hard cuts than throwing a pass. Leavitt hasn't been hesitant to do any of that in the first 3 games. I'd say "concern" over the foot seems to be a non-factor

Coming off an injury where he missed half a season, missed all of spring, and in a new system. There is going to be growing pains.
He played in 7 games last year, which put him at 24 for his career, 21 of them starts. That is a ton of experience as a college starter. Plus, the injury hasn't seemed to affect him at all. He's running well and routinely making hard cuts on his surgically repaired foot.
While it may be a high burden to expect a guy to come in and be really good right out of the gate, that is the nature of the game now with "free agency". Any expectation standards prior to the NIL/freedom of transfer era are outdated. Again, that may be a high bar, but that's the reality.
He has NOT been awful as some want to suggest. But he hasn't quite been what fans hoped for in a very experienced QB for what has been a very effective offensive coach. I 100% believe he and the offense are capable of improving. But some criticism thus far is warranted.

He can get better. Took Daniels 3 seasons. Takes Qbs yeaars to improve.

Not in this new system. He has only played 3 games in this system.

That isn't the point. Its the fact that he missed time, and missed spring. That significantly impacts things. This is not an NFL player where they have 60 games under their belt and fully understand protections, coverages, drops, route concepts vs those coverage looks etc. This is still a young player developing and a 3rd game in a new system is going to have growing pains.

Which is why fans don't determine anything.

Dude what are you talking about? I responded to someone who said he can't be coached up. Criticism and blanket statements about him not being able to improve are two different things. I have already criticized his play saying he needs to improve his footwork and progressions but also acknowledging the facts for what has led to those struggles and pointing out he can improve and develop. He can miss on some passes. No one’s gonna beat him up too bad for that, but he has to make the wide open touchdown throws. Those are backbreakers and the 60% completion rate does not reflect that. That is a number that is misleading, especially when you miss touchdown passes.

Burrow didn't get going until November....and especially the last couple games and bowl game. Of course the scheme was bad too his first year.

Im assuming you didn't watch jd hold onto the ball over and over his 1st year here. That was his 4th year starting. He wasn't good. Im not defending Leavitt here, but to say he can't improve is just lazy and untrue.

Leavitt was the starter of a team the went to the playoffs. Should we not expect more from him than Burrow who was never a starter before coming to LSU?
Well we got a lot more so there you go. But no, look at the first year of the last 3 transfers, Mett, Joe and #5. Don't be so dramatic, this takes time and tape. He is already better than Nuss.

It's about the fact he missed spring and a lot of practice because of rehab, not about his plant foot... Give him time,
