re: Will Saban take the field for the 25 year anniversary of 2003 championship?

I feel like it is nearly a guarantee, and many players from that team will absolutely be pushing for it. It’s still unreal how his image has shifted within the hearts and minds of our fanbase in such a short period.
I think it’s more that it’s easier to hate him when he’s beating us every year, but now we don’t have to worry about that.
He’ll probably be there, and obviously we need to credit the guy for bringing LSU into the limelight, but have you forgotten he cost LSU at least 2 championships, possibly more? He’s easier to revere now that he’s not at Bama anymore, but he’s the sole reason we don’t have 5 championships since 2003.
re: I think the Sam Leavitt concern is a litttlleeee over stated

Yes, he needs to push the ball downfield and has a tendency (so far) to take off after his first couple reads.
This is a huge deal.

I also think that when you are as fast and athletic as he is, wanting to take off like that is normal. It can also be coached
He’s been practicing with the team for how long? Do you think he can get it together in a week? (The answer is no)
quote:
He is also coming off a nasty injury and not playing for an extended period of time
Don’t have time. LSU plays Ole Miss this weekend.

Having trouble locating that sweet “Western Division Champs” banner in the picture
re: If you think we're leaving Oxford without a dominating win, you're high.

Just to play devil’s advocate
Doesn’t mean anything if our QB can’t throw the ball more than 5 feet off the ground and take advantage of Ole Miss’s pass defense weaknesses, since my 4 year old nephew could easily tip 90 of Leavitt’s throws. Also, when he somehow throws it to where an angler fish at the bottom of the ocean can’t get to it, he’s not a good passer.
This does not matter. Golding wants to prove himself too. And knowing Lane, there’s probably so much bad blood between them even though they claim there isn’t. They both want this game, badly, for different reasons. Also, see my previous point about not having a good QB. That’s important.
So?
We also have a QB that shouldn’t be starting in the SEC.

We poached every coach that was worth a shite from that place. They replaced them with guys like Frank frickin' Wilson.

Lane has an ego. You know he really, really, really wants this game. And not just win but make a statement. You know he's pulling out all the stops to embarrass them on a national stage.

Lane doesn’t play QB though.

Leavitt is middle of the pack (if that), but if he can remember to throw the ball more than 5 feet above the ground you guys are toast. He doesn’t have to be that good.
quote:
At least two of his interceptions were tipped, right? Can't really blame him for those
Yes you can. One or two tips, fine, but he’s getting tipped regularly. He’s throwing it where the defense can get to it. Happened last game too, a lot. He had at least 2 that were damn close to being tipped.
re: Is Kiffin not showing anything?

He had to have spent all week preparing for Ole Miss. Probably told the guys at half time to cut the bullshite.
Saban in 2015, about the Georgia Southern game in 2011
Posted by 818 Tiger on 9/12/26 at 8:59 pm
He was asked about the upcoming game against Charleston Southern at a presser, and they asked if they would see the younger players play that week. He scoffed and said this:
It sucks, but I mean, it happens. Next week is the game that Lane wants the most. There’s no way they didn’t spend time preparing for that.
quote:
How do you know we’re going to see the younger players? Y’all don’t remember the Georgia Southern game, do you? I don’t think we had a player on that field that didn’t play in the NFL and 4 or 5 of them were NFL draft picks. And I think that team won a national championship, but I’m not sure. And they ran through our arse like shite through a tin horn and we could not stop them.

That pass almost got tipped.
re: My theory is that we prepared for ole miss all week

I don’t think that’s a cope. Also the players aren’t executing and I know that they’re not taking this as seriously.
Lane can say what he wants about his mentality of “you haven’t done shite” but the players see social media and ESPN and they know they’re playing Tech this week.
They probably prepared for Ole Miss. Lane wants that game more than any other one on the schedule.

New year, different coach, still struggling against LA Tech
re: Bench Leavitt
Posted by 818 Tiger on 9/12/26 at 8:21 pm to arseinclarse
I thought his passing was suspect, especially in the first half, and all the tipped balls was a problem last game. It’s like he thinks he’s shooting a shotgun. He just kind of points to the area and doesn’t aim. I was surprised how many people were so high on his passing. He looked very average last week.
I still think the team is just hungover / not taking it seriously. But Leavitt is a tip magnet.

Great win over the mighty Wildcats
Everyone here will remember exactly where they were when they heard the news

Wishful thinking about Kirby. I think Georgia will always be good, not sure about dominant. Lost to DeBoer as well as a deflated butthurt Ole Miss team in the playoffs last year. Hardly enough to say they’ll be dominant for a while.
re: DeBoer is simply in over his head in the SEC.

We knew that
Same as BK. Let’s see how much money Bama is willing to shell out. I mean we all know how poor LSU is, and LSU hired Lane and canned 100M Brian Kelly. So it should be no problem for Bama.

No one under the age of 8 has witnessed an Alabama national championship
Posted by 818 Tiger on 9/12/26 at 5:03 pm
How do you explain this Kentucky game to an inbred kid who never experienced the glory days?
Absolutely embarrassing.
Absolutely embarrassing.
re: Holy Rowe just held up a thermometer and said it's 163 degrees on Texas's field.

I had to look it up, but he official highest recorded air temperature on Earth is 134.1 °F. Looks like the record was shattered today
This is cringe because you think you’re funny but you weren’t smart enough to know the difference between “on the field” and “in the air”
Turf absolutely gets hot like that.
With all that’s going on in CFB, what are some other things that surprise you?
Posted by 818 Tiger on 9/10/26 at 10:14 am
I thought we could make a list. I’ll go first.
1) LSU is currently the center of the universe in college football. With Lane Kiffin at the helm, I don’t see that changing.
2) No one under the age of 8 has ever witnessed a legitimate Alabama national championship, and may never again.
3) Missouri is in the SEC.
What else?

You’ve clearly never had to play Hey Fightin Tigers 20 times in a football game or get booed by the crowd that rushed the field bc you played that instead of playing Neck
Are you implying that Hey Fightin Tigers is difficult technically?
Never once in 35 years of attending have I heard them play Hey Fightin Tigers even close to 20 times in a game.
Theo Vonn is great and has mass appeal. He’s a weirdo and is hilarious. Lane is building this program into a monster off the field as much as he is on the field.
Lane kind of reminds me of Saban’s change of approach when he came here. One of the things Saban said was he kept seeing NFL players from Louisiana and came to LSU to capitalize on how much talent Louisiana had because no one seemed to be able to do it. He changed that.
Lane is capitalizing on Louisiana’s uniqueness off the field. No one’s really done that. A lot of people think the crazy shite we do that we take for granted is really cool in Louisiana. Including celebrities. Lane’s absolutely taking advantage of it.
