Does he want the players? Sure I bet he does. He is also not an idiot, they aren’t make or break players.
What is the real angle on this? To piss off the SEC? To Troll? No.
Lane has a team full of transfers and new players. How do you bring together a collection of individuals and make them gel?
Let the media hate of yourself and LSU create a huge controversy. The whole world is against LSU now.
It’s now “us against the world” he has created the perfect conditions to gel together a bunch of mercenaries. Very similar to the controversy last year when he was leaving Ole Miss and they went on a run. He even alluded to it in his press conference.
This is just as much about creating the us against the world mentality in the locker room as it is getting a couple depth pieces. Lane is shrewd and knows how to extract maximum benefit from something like this.

Cool.
So do we get to hang a banner when this is all said and done?

Your damn right we do!

If it all works and the team comes together sure.

It’s not even that deep. He saw Texas sign a kid that went through the draft process, failed and went back to college and said “Hm, I bet I can do that too”.
There’s nothing more to it than that.

If you truly think this isn’t multilayered then you are underestimating him.
He will have this team running through a brick wall after his pregame speech for Clemson can use all the LSU hate.

But can't bring logic to this conversation. The whole world believes its only LSU and LSU created this issue and convinced all the players and surrounding states to sue the NCAA. Its laughable how this narrative has spun out of control to a point where Sark is lying and media heads are ignoring it and saying Lane is the one lying lmfao. So over this shite.

I like the idea of a “World Champs” banner in the stadium.

I have no idea if this was his mission, and I actually doubt it. But, I 100% agree with your point that this will help the team come together and play for something bigger than themselves.

It's not that deep my guy.
There are players available.
Lane thinks they can help the team.
Lane wants them.
There are questions of eligibility.
That will all be solved soon.
It doesn't always have to be 4d chess, big brain moves.... these are the same things other coaches are doing, they just chose LSU over ole miss or texas, or whoever.

interesting take. there is a lot of 4 D chess going on here. He is forcing everyone to realize things need to be changed, he is bringing the team together and I love how they say this is a distraction for LSU. At least Lane knew this was coming, the rest of the SEC was not and now it is all they can obsess over the week before the games. Who is actually doing the distracting here? ;-) Its honestly pretty impressive to watch.
And to boot he has the SEC pigeon holed. If the judge grants this and we don't play them, no telling how many law suits are headed their way. They are damned if they do or damned if they don't.

That is probably part of it. Also, I think Lane pushing this is a bit of a shot at Ole Miss because of the Chambliss situation. He may be trying to force the SEC’s hand on dealing with teams playing with ineligible players with TRO’s.
