re: Why was Kelly Lazy

Money was in the bank.
What exactly happened to Nutt at Ole Miss. Did the Coach O probations sink him in the end?

First two years they were good.
I think the first thing throwing off expectations this year are Bama and Ole Miss somehow both losing 3 games last year.

I am not sure you will ever see 2 top 5 SEC teams drop 3 games again.

Had Bama and Ole Miss gone 10-2 last year, the final 3 At large spots would have been between Tennessee, Ole Miss, Bama, and Indiana. Bama or Ole Miss would have probably been left out.

I am sure you were in the same pulpit for Auburn in 2017.
This is true but I definitely do not remember who the regular season coach was for the 88-89 Michigan basketball team. Same scenario.
The record is not the stunning part. It is the how it happened. We walked out of Clemson thinking we had a contender.

After Florida, we were ranked third but our offense had already been exposed. I had us realistically at 4 losses. Absolute best case scenario at that point we sneak into the playoffs and get destroyed in the first round.

It was quite the fall from week 1 to week 3 and we had not even lost a game yet.
We are not hiring him. Where have you people been the last 10 years?
If only Ole Miss had a former head coach they could call with conference and national title experience?
“Ill hang up Paul now and let you talk”

I would take Oklahoma if it is less than 14.

I have seen this show before

Someone tell me how this is different from the same buzz surrounding Jimbo Fisher, Tom Herman, and Lincoln Riley.
I do not think they should have fired him the COVID year. Who knows what would have happened had they stuck wirh Malzhan and Nix.
He was averaging 9.667 wins a season. Even if you have a 7 win season you are averaging 9 a year.

I think he figured with the contract he signed it would take a sub 8 win season and a sub 7 win season for us to consider letting him go.
I do not think that move makes any sense either In a few years, if things heat up and a good west coast job or even Washington opens back up, I could see him leaving.
.1% is a hilarious scenario. I actually do not see it. It would even in an impossible perfect scenario where everyone we needed to lose lost, the last spot would be between us and Notre Dame and Missouri.

Ohio State
Indiana
A/M
Georgia
Texas Tech
Bama
Vandy
Oregon
Ole Miss
ACC champ
Power 5 Champ

Maybe ESPN can publish ths one scenario.

This is fun.

Here is how it could happen:

Ohio St
A/M
Texas Tech
Ga Tech win out

Group of 5 team does not matter.

I dont see anyway we could jump
Indiana
Ole Miss
Oregon
Georgia
Alabama
Vandy
Notre Dame

Pitt beats Miami but loses to tech
Mizzou beats Oklahoma but loses their other game.

Besides Pitt and Mizzou, Every team not on the first 11 listed must lose every single game.

We probably also need to beat Oklahoma 56-7.
We still probably lose all 3 but Kelly is likely still coach if we can blame the whole season on Nuss’s injury.

Record would be the same and MVB would have a lot more reps. He may have put it together by Bama. Who knows.
I think that is my question.

From the last 3 coaching searches, all I have learned is if the words “done deal” are stated in November there is a zero percent chance it is happening.
Curious to see if anyone knows the whole story since everyone is convinced again they know what coach is headed this way.
