That’s great. Both of them won a championship at LSU. Until Kelly does that, there is no claim that he is a better coach.

What’s with the downvotes when people bring up the defense? Are the downvotes because they think it’s not his fault as head coach or do they think the defense wasn’t so bad?

He’s got more wins than Saban.

Saban would have had Matt House’s arse out of here with the quickness. Kelly doesn’t touch Nick Saban’s level while keeping clowns like House on his coaching staff.

I'd like to see JD lead us to 2 TDs in our first two drives and then Nuss enter the game and close it out for a win! Y'all tell Brian thats what I want.

That’s a silly standard. Anybody on this board can name lots of coaches better than Ed Orgeron, Gene Chizic and Jimbo Fisher who never won a National Championship.

That's not a high bar,

In a sense it kind of is. Ole Les had the highest win percentage (on the field, vacated wins aside) of any LSU coach who coached 25 or more games.

but hold off until he wins a ship. Both Les and O did.

I'd say hold off until there is a little more time to see what happens. And the Natty is not the only or even the best determination of how good a coach is. Remember that Larry Coker has a Natty and Bo Schembechler does not.

I think he is the best since Saban at LSU in terms of the optics if nothing else. I also think he will turn out to be one of the best overall but only time will tell.

Kelly's first 2 years > Saban first 2 years

Les was a damn good coach for a period of time,

And his recruiting was elite, and rankings reflected that until his last few years from what I recall.

I thought Ed O would at least recruit on an elite level, but covid killed Ed's career as much as his bravado and urge to bang skanks.

That's not saying much. Saban was replaced with a 70s era HC with a mental deficiency. Then that coach was replaced with a cartoon character come to life. Incredibly both were able to win national championships at LSU.

I loved Les until the game finally passed him by and the lack of a QB caught up to him. Coach O did a great job until he reached the mountain top only to have the mountain promptly collapse. Les squandered more talent than any coach this side of Mark Richt and Coach O inexplicably left the program in shambles.

BK may never have the same success that Les and Coach O had but even if he doesn't, I think he's a better head ball coach. I don't know if that makes any sense at all but to me BK is clearly a better coach.

Think for a moment if BK inherited the LSU program that Les did.

Think for a moment if Les or O inherited either what BK did in roster or with the NIL dynamic that has even Saban challenged.

It’s harder than ever to manage a top tier college football program. It’s almost like running a big business. BK is navigating some difficult terrain and I think he will get a championship. It likely won’t be next season but he will get there.

Not sure what you mean by patchwork, UGA and Bama are only teams not living in portal and we aren't even sniffing the top 10 in recruiting rankings since he's been here.
#5 Recruiting class last year and will have a top 10 class when its all said and done this year. If you're going to bash the man at least know what you're talking about.

Kelly is on the clock.
Orgeron won it all, in his third season, with the best team in NCAA history.
That without the Portal nor NIL.

If Kelly wins the Championship in his third year there will be an *.

* With benefit of Portal and NIL.

Does your lover boy O get an * because Aranda hired Busch that resulted in Burrow getting to campus?

CBK was very successful in every job he had prior to coming to LSU. He had a great resume. LSU was lucky to have him available and willing to take the LSU job.

I have no idea how many NCs CBK will win at LSU.

I'm currently the tallest person in my house. Of course, no one else is over nine years old.
