BK made a horrible decision to appoint House as DC.

By all accounts, House fielded a solid defense last season. I don’t think anybody anticipated it being this bad in year two. Hiring him wasn’t horrible. It would only be horrible if Kelly stuck with him, which thankfully appears to not be the case.

Pate has said all season that LSUs defensive staff was lower tier. He actually said this before the season started.
Huh...i heard Pate say just before the FSU game that House was on a short list of FBS coordinators mentioned for head coaching jobs. "let's see how house does with that cornerback room".

I believe he’s the characters that also said at the beginning of the season that LSU would lose 6 games and BK would on the hot seat.

He just posted that LSU has been on the market for a new DC for “weeks” like they have already moved on

CBK is the type to give the coach answer when asked, "Are you firing Coach X?" but have already been working on the replacement, keeping all quiet.

I heard after the Bama game BK told House that the he should start looking for another job.

While I want House gone at season's end as bad as any Tiger fan does and I expect Kelly to let him go, I don't thing Kelly's been taking to anyone about the decision. This is a staff that keeps things private and "inside the family" very well. Remember, this is a coaching staff that for months didn't leak Smith's suspension, even to insiders. To protect House's pride, I expect him to find a "new opportunity." We'll not hear Coach Kelly utter the word "fired."

All a guess but I agree with yr take.

A couple games into the season I suspected the D wouldn't get much better and House would announce (at season's end) that he's returning to the NFL. By all accounts I don't foresee CBK keeping House or Steeples (a high school coach FFS).

Could be a full sweep since new DCs typically want control over their staff hires.

Pete Jenkins job as Woody's hatchet man will be complete if House gets fired.

Can Woody send him to help out McMahon now in basketball?

Wait, I'm supposed to be a McMan according to some. I should get rid of that. Nah.

Look I totally get your post and agree with you but BK had his back with all the shite he’s been through. I’ll bet the house that House will be relieved (personally stress wise) when all this is over. He’s just in over his head BIG TIME! He’s a good position coach and I’m sure a great guy, but with schemes and complex zones and MAKING SURE YOUR GUYS ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE when implementing these schemes he’s just not your guy. He made (and will make) lots of $$ these past 2 years so he will be fine but this just isn’t the right fit for him. Look one things (which is obvious ) he wasted a season with Perkins and everyone can see that. He had this freshman (highly ranked 5 star) that he basically discovered last year that’s special. He won that Arkansas game last year, and over complicated him thinking he could do way more with him. Big mistake and BK had his back with that blunder saying they’re getting him ready for next level, bullshite! He had House’s back for playing him out of position to overcompensate for the weakness in the linebacker room. He knew his D didn’t have lots of athletes so he wanted Perk to play half the dam field. Bad decision so next guy needs to fix that. Also your point about family and keeping it in house it’s just hard when it’s more than 1 person. These defensive position coaches are scrambling right now. Knowing they’re gonna have to vibe with whoever the new coach is and hope he doesn’t have someone close to him that coaches the same position they do. Remember these cats could be unemployed in a couple of weeks and they’re not getting House $$$. With so many people being affected it gets out. I truly found this out Friday night. So take it as you wish, not trying to be a douche nozzle or subtle braggadocio tool, just wanted to pass on what I heard is happening. Like I said too much has happened for him to return. As far as fired, idk stepped down maybe? Relieved of his duties? Either way he was told he’s not coming back and the other coaches needed a heads up so it’ll all be over next weekend. With the athletes we have House should have been able to at least be competitive. I mean the opposing QB shouldn’t have all day to sit in the pocket when you have Harold Perkins Jr. on your roster. Peace out boys, had enough of the rant for one day.

That’s easy in hindsight, but he also had the number 6 defense in the FBS at UK in 21. That’s why he was hired. But Kelly should have moved on to a different style of DC when he struck out on Brad White first.

You never hire a guy off of one year. Look at Belk. Also, look at who the head coach at Kentucky is.

House has never struck me as a smart football coach. I've shifted on his schemes for 2 years now.

I don’t think House is stupid. I think he runs a complicated defense, and that is a lot more difficult to pull off in college than in the pros. You have to be a good teacher and flexible enough to adjust to your roster. We saw this year that he isn’t able to do either of those things, and a complicated read and react defense won’t work at all if the players don’t understand how to run it. He’s just not a college coach and should have stayed in the NFL.

What we’ve seen since the Bama game is what House’s defense looks like when you strip it back to the bare bones. It doesn’t work at all. Any QB with a pulse can move the ball on a vanilla zone with no disguising and few blitzes.

I second that motion by the OP. Reports strongly indicate House is gone after this season.

I do get tired of hearing the same old line of thinking over the years that getting rid of this or that assistant coach will be harmful to LSU's recruiting.

I haven't noticed that as much related to House's very likely departure, perhaps because he isn't really a very good recruiter.

I was pretty high on house when hired, but this has been one of the worst coaching jobs I can remember. This defense isn't good at anything.

Hiring is always a crap shoot. House's resume was of the #6 defense at KY, NFL experience, and the Honey Badger's recommendation as well. I recall when BK hired Lindsey he wanted a coach with SEC recruiting experience, and House had that at KY. It made sense on paper.

For whatever reason it didn't work out in year 2, but for anyone to say, "he never should have been hired" is revisionist history.

I think it was more concerning to not retain Raymond, but in all honesty he was living on his reputation the last few years here at LSU and after what Daniels did to his DBs at UF one could point to that and say Raymond needed to go.

It'll be an interesting offseason; I do think BK understands what is expected of him and will make the appropriate changes.

Just wondering what some of you DC want-a-be's defense would have looked like had you inherited the dumpster fire House did? Would YOUR AMAZING defense won the SEC West last year?

Look Mrs. House I’m sure you raised a nice boy but he’s a fricking awful DC

The worst decision was secondary coaches. House had a good reputation from his time at Kentucky. The other jagoffs had no history of success.
