One second blues--a great memory!

I think it was Bert Jones to Brad Davis. With four seconds left, Jones threw incomplete for Jimmy Ledoux.

Certainly helped to have a quick-fingered scorekeeper to stop the clock and leave a second on it for the next play, the TD catch by Davis to win.
This is some tremendous news.

Didn't LSU have a really talented DB named Greedy not that many years ago?

Hopefully, Greedy James will be as good or better.
One of many great talents who played for Dale and Ron. He was a star at Dallas Carter High School, along with Vernon Smith, who played at A&M.

The Astronaut--question one of those highly ranked recruits who did not reach his potential was Mickey Heard. Was he recruited by Ron Abernathy?
Thanks for the summary there.

Latz has done an outstanding job in relief this year and is certainly deserving of his All Star selection.
In September of 1970, the Tigers snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory as unranked Texas A&M scored with less than a minute left on Hugh McElroy’s long touchdown catch for a huge 20-18 upset victory.

That was indeed one of many thrillers for a season lid lifter. I can remember some of the victory in the rain over Oregon State, I think.

But as far as the first LSU game I attended, it was a heartbreaking loss in which the Aggies (in those days) won a rare victory over the Tigers, on that long pass in the final 30 seconds or minute of the game.

The second game was much better and to me, one of the classics. A Saturday afternoon game--LSU 21, Auburn 20. The blocked extra point secured victory, but there were many other exciting plays. There was the halfback pass for a touchdown and the thrill of seeing the strong Tiger defense making many big plays to edge Auburn and its outstanding QB, Pat Sullivan.
LSU: Al Coffee

I realize that’s going back many years.

Overall college: Gabe “Senor Sack” Rivera, Texas Texh.
A salute to an outstanding coach and recruiter for the Tigers. May he rest in peace.
Those LSU and Tennessee teams cited above were consistent throughout the entire season.

This Oklahoma team was not.

He’s too old.

And he’s starting to get the Hogs program going a bit better.
Just think of all the college teams who would love to be in the position OU is now.
As you and the other posters realize, OU is now 4-1 at Omaha.

Tonight’s game is for all the marbles. The pitching matchup could perhaps favor the Sooners, but it appeared that way yesterday going into the game.
Kiffin so far has been more willing than previous coaches to address the tough questions.
That doesn’t seem likely at this point, but I could definitely expect fewer conferences than currently exist.
The SEC teams whose fans travel well didn't make it to the title game.
He’s taken criticism for various things. Would the fans appreciate it? Would he help or jinx the Tar Heels?

Cain is like a boomerang.
Have any of these two-sport scholarship athletes been better in basketball than football? I am not recalling one at quick glance, but could have missed someone.

The main one I recall is Marcus Spears whose focus was football and who played basketball it seems like just his freshman year.

Reminds me of Ole Miss a few years back. Weren't the Rebels the cellar dweller, lost early in SEC Tourney, then won it all? And there are other examples likely already cited and to be cited in this thread.

That's the way these things go--also remember in the NCAA basketball tourney, two of the biggest upsets ever, N.C. State over Houston in 1983 and Villanova over Georgetown, when Villanova hit over 70 percent from the field.

Don’t take it. You can do other things. Conditioning seems okay, might consider the low fat diet among other things.
Perhaps Haven can join the Tigers later as a transfer.
