maybe but op has a legit point if dabo did in fact send a letter about a contract violation with pro players.

Agree it was directed at the whole world and was not a joke, IMO... it's a bit of a "you serious bro?" to the world....

Probably, but is it relevant? Kiffin was making fun of this absurd situation and now Sankey wants to go scorched earth because his feelings were hurt.

Nobody who thinks like that should be in a position of power over their own family, much less a multi-billion dollar operation.

What is wrong with that statement anyway? If Alabama coach says imagine how many points we could score if we had pro caliber players does SEC threaten to suspend him?

Lane Kiffin's comment is just another thing they threw in to the filing in my opinion. This was going to play out like this one way or another.

This ^^^. He wasn't directing it at any one person, it was in response to the situation as a whole. And I loved it, I found it funny. shite I said the very same thing when we went up 24-3.

Absolutely. The SEC added that statement as proof of "lack of institutional control." Control of what? Smack talking our opponent who publicly threatened our program?

And showing that it cannot be proven as a shot against the SEC weakens the SEC's legal standing.

The dumbest part of it all is our starting TE will be a first round pick in the spring. The “pro” guy went undrafted and was cut. Everyone freaking out like we were signing an NFL all pro.

SEC leadership is joke and an oxymoron. Sankey has to go. He's shown he can't lead unemotionally.

I'm sure it was directed at least in part at Sankey.

But is Sankey a 14 year old girl? An executive who is supposed to lead a major athletics conference files pleadings in court because the popular mean girl made a comment.

It doesn't matter who it is directed at. It's a comment. If you are trying to kick LSU out of the SEC based on a comment, then by all means, go for it.

This screams to me, that this is the death throes of Sankey. He went too far, and in his mind, if LSU gets kicked out, he gets to keep his job. If they do not, then his arse is gone quickly.

In reality, i think Sankey is gone regardless as he no longer has an appearance of impartiality.

I didn't know that being cocky is an SEC rule violation that can get you suspended.

Some are even interpreting it as “wistful” and an expression of how “badly” Kiffin wanted those players.

This!

Lane is from a younger, more social-media savvy generation. He's world famous for quick off-the-cuff quotes and jabs. He's a master troll and a brilliant tactician.

For the other "get off my lawn" members of my generation, that quote was a specific observation in the moment of a completely ludicrous situation (and, evidently, one he never intended to make on camera).

It may seem bad or uncouth to the older crowd, but most folks these days understand the context of the quote. There are, however those that understand that context and chose to weaponize it against Kiffin and LSU because, well, people will believe anything they read these days.

Soundbites rule the day for most voters. Sankey and the SEC are making bank off of that one quote taken out of context, but that doesn't mean they're presenting a truthful narrative.

Just my opinion.

It was a tongue in cheek comment about the performance (positive) of his team.

It's funny that this is being used...but the entire issue has been absurd.

It doesn't even matter.

They were already going through with this anyway.
