Also, I think a large portion of the fans that want Orgeron fired believe it is inevitable that he is going to lead LSU in the wrong direction. Wins here or there won’t change that.

O will never win a title. The quicker he is out of here the better. I can name about 5 screw ups by O off the top of my head and thats only in a year and a half.

Wins over Miami, plus one win over the Big Three SEC powers, plus a sweep of the remaining 8 teams on the schedule will salve the anti-Oeux inflammation festering the body politic of Ye Rant.

To be honest, it will require a 2 loss season for me to change attitude. Given the hard schedule, Miami is a must win IMO to attain that goal.

Anything else is excuse making for continued mediocry after O has had plenty of time to get his people placed how he wants in terms of staffing and recruiting.

I'm in the minority perhaps that will settle for elite....but for Bama. This trend of average/slightly above average needs to stop NOW however.

Given his present ample opportunity, if he fails to meet that target, he never will. He will just float year to year shifting goalposts and making excuses.

If we come out prepared and look like a more complete team in game 1 bs a top 10 team is that not at least some evidence that things might be improving?

It wouldn't be literally 0 as you suggest

That's a pretty big IF............
WHAT has Orgeron done to instill this faith in his ability to lead a team to playoff college football? HE wanted Canada, then meddled when he said he would NOT, then got him "released" from LSU and got his buddy the job. Good Ole Boy network at work.

I actually thought last season was pretty successful...

you think 9-4 is successful? In a down SEC?

Man, we have far different definitions of success.

A lot! If we beat ND handily, then sign Surtain, the atmospherearound here would be positive. Go 10-2, with a victory over Bama, and there will be optimism.

bullshite. LSU didn't set the world on fire last year, but they did win 9 games in a season where they were projected to finish at the bottom of the league. And what's the temperature of the fan base right now? Wanting to burn the HC in effigy.

Hate O all you want, but spare us the bullshite about how winning will halt the miserable told-you-so's from gnashing their teeth over anything and everything.

For what it's worth, I hope our next HC grinds the program into the ground so that all of the posters and fans who see themselves as perpetual victims of a vast conspiracy by LSU to ruin LSU will burn yourselves out and die off. That would be EXACTLY what this fan base deserves after the unprecedented bitching and moaning of the past two years.

Yeah a down sec that had 2 teams playing for the national title both of which lost to another team in the sec west that lost to us. Clearly everyone in the sec and the west in particular sucked.

Not one bit... These people on here hate this man like the crats hate Trump.

If we beat Miami, they will suck, or not be such a good team this year. But O must win next year against the big name coaches. If he can beat most of them then his recruiting season should be top 3 in the country. Should be top 3 no matter what. He needs to step it up in recruiting and start playing a smart game. Take little tips from others, mimic them and see how successful you are with it.

With LA being as loaded as it is, and we missing two this year he can LOAD up in 2019 and I would do exactly that. Take the best out of LA while also taking kids from across the south and where ever else I see opportunity. He has to start being bold, and spending more time on them. Can't go without calling or contacting them for long periods of time. He has to stay on them.

We won't know the quality of that win, if it happens, until later in the season.

If we pull this off and beat 3/4 (above 50% minimum) big name coaches and have 9-10 wins I think a lot of the doubts will subside. Until then, there's not much to be hopeful about in regards to O.

He hasn't really been an improvement over Miles as of yet. 2018 is his make or break year. If he doesnt deliver in 2018 I don't see any reason to keep this experiment going on any longer. Pull the plug and move on before any more damage is done.

bviously we'll be subject to listen to non stop misery all off season but does an impressive showing and a win against Miami calm people down some?

doubtfull,. the people who think he was a bad hire will continue to dislike him even if he wins the NC. Many have said as much due to the process of the hire. They say whether he wins or losses that Alieva didn't vet him properly or give enough other coaches a look so nothing will justify the decision.

edit: many of our fans are complete utter idiots and imbeciles

I mean of course a convincing win is a positive thing but it is the first game of the season and can occasionally be fools gold. I remember A&M a couple years back blasted South Carolina and looked like a national championship team but fortunately for everyone on TD they weren't every game after.

So, yes I would be stoked for a great win but my expectations will be tempered until the months nov. thru jan.
