I want to know why people want opinions about Orgeron to change on the outcome of a single game.

I don't expect them to. But it's going to be a long negative off season around here. A big win in the opener could get people in better spirits. Cautiously optimistic if you will.

I don't expect people to change their opinion about orgeron based on the outcome of the game.

For me it's always been about the big picture. How about he puts together one season without embarrassing losses, saying stupid things, and overall underachieving first instead of clinging to small glimpses of competence here and there?

People who are shortsighted. They will jump on any scant evidence without look at the big picture. In many cases, that's because they either can't see the big picture or don't care about the big picture.

Like I said, anyone's opinion changing about O in game 1, week 1 of the season is wrong. Whether we win or lose. We won't know the quality of the win or loss for a few weeks at best.

And by then we'll have at least a few more games to go off of to further evaluate the program.

I think you're misinterpreting the op. Please see my previous post.

Also, I think a large portion of the fans that want Orgeron fired believe it is inevitable that he is going to lead LSU in the wrong direction. Wins here or there won’t change that.

Correct.

All the O haters will say that M Richt isn’t that good of a coach....just look at his last couple of years at GA...
I've lived in Georgia for 25 years. Richt was Les Miles. Good guy, very good recruiter, put a ton of guys in the NFL, but (with an exception here or there) didn't consistently play up to their capabilities.

So Richt is a good coach, but not a great one.

Can go either way. But let's just assume the worst and drink cyanide before the season starts just so we won't be alive to endure the horrors

I mean, sure? I would connect better spirits to be feeling comfortable about the direction the program is headed in. Making that decision based on one game is probably not a good idea in either direction.

I predict the "I told you so" posts will ramp up heavily with a certain group of posters that will say O is the greatest hire ever if LSU were to come out and whip Miami handily. That kind of thinking will surely keep the negativity high, because it is the wrong perspective....as I mentioned the quality of that win (or loss) won't be known for a few more games.

I don't think the optimistic folks understand that hyperbole, excuses, and bad logic don't really improve the situation. Whipping Miami would bring that out in full force.

In short, I don't think the situation around here/the fan division improves until it's crystal clear what O is or is not capable of. It's going to be a mess until then. That's why 9-4/8-5 is yet again the worst possible outcome for everyone.

Sure and that would be silly. A game like that would make me feel better about off season preparation heading into the season but the schedule is too brutal to start celebrating after 1 quality win.

All fair. I would be a little hesitant to feel better, just based on O's history. For me O has to show he can win consistently against better competition, so just on definition that's going to take multiple games before I'd even start feeling positive.

Exactly. We could steamroll the Canes by 40 and some of these dumb fricks wouldn't even be able to take time off from their crusade to celebrate the win.
