It is all about context. He went 9-4 in the weakest and most terrible SEC in decades. Every SEC team he beat went out and got better, as to head coach, talent, or both. And he went 9-4 with a fifth year QB, ridiculously talented RB, and depth at key positions. This year is not only a tougher schedule, but it will be a new QB, shallow RB depth, shallow CB depth, and a new OC. What else should fans reasonably expect?

It would take a damn near perfect season to satisfy the people on this board.

We did not know how bad the SEC was at the start of the year... is the schedule O's fault??? It's not his fault teams fired their coaches is it???? You play who is put in front of you.... did we lose to a team with a losing record??? No.... in the regular season the best team Bama beat was LSU....

Ok...? Teams are judged at the end of the season, not the beginning. I'm not sure of your point.

did we lose to a team with a losing record???

What a standard of excellence.

Do you have a statistical breakdown on the matter? If not kindly shut the frick up
You do realize that the national championship game, second half, had TWO TRUE FRESHMEN AT QB??? And another team in the playoff (Clemson) had a first year starter at QB.

I created list a year or so ago just from memory, and not from any research. If I did any research, this list would be much longer.

Just recently:
Johnny Manziel
Jameis Winston
Greg McElroy
AJ McCarron
Blake Sims
Jake Coker
Brad Kaaya
Jalen Hurts
Tua
JaMarcus Russell
Chase McSorley
Cam Newton
Baker Mayfield
DeSean Watson
Kelly Bryant
Aaron Murray
Jake Fromm
Shane Buechele
Brett Hundley
Josh Rosen
Jake Browning
JT Barrett
Cardale Jones
Sam Darnold
DeShone Kizer
Dak Prescott
Colt McCoy
Mason Rudolph
Josh Jackson

and many, many, many others. Those LITERALLY are off the top of my head in two minutes.

You act like all of these guys were freshman

Some were juniors or seniors or even 5th year seniors before their first season starting.

Terrible list is terrible.

You can only beat the teams on the schedule

So when you only play 6 teams with winning records

Beat more than 2 of them to show you’re a good team

It’s going to take 10-2 or better next season for fan morale to improve.

It’s not too much to ask or expect after firing Les to have one season with better results than the guy we fired.

So we hired O just to beat Miami in 2018? Well if that was the case and he beats them, mission accomplished I guess.

Pass this along to O: beat Bama. It's that simple. We're not going to allow you to create a false milestone so that when you pass it you can fool us into thinking you accomplished something. Beat Bama. Period.

A win has zero effect....only concerned with Bama and other SEC teams

The facts are we want 9-4 and that’s not good.

The facts are we lost
To a sunbelt team and a had a losing record against teams over .500

Stop acting like people are “hating” for not reason

Yeah a down sec that had 2 teams playing for the national title
we only played one of them, and lost by 14.

both of which lost to another team in the sec west that lost to us.
you do realize you can't play the "we beat team x, who beat team y, who beat team z, so we're as good as team z" game. It's a silly argument.

Ole Miss got better?
is Chad Morris a better coach than Bielema? Resume says not

is Morehead equal to or better Mullen? Nobody knows, Mullen is damn good

How did Auburn get better?

How is Bama going to be better? Better QB but lost almost all of their defense and had their worst recruiting class in 9 years.

Did Georgia get better losing all those studs on defense?

So actually the only team to for sure be better is Florida because they got a better coach

I predict we beat Miami...but even after that, the haters will say we lose our next 11.

For what it's worth, I hope our next HC grinds the program into the ground so that all of the posters and fans who see themselves as perpetual victims of a vast conspiracy by LSU to ruin LSU will burn yourselves out and die off. That would be EXACTLY what this fan base deserves after the unprecedented bitching and moaning of the past two years.

but I bet you tell people you "bleed purple and gold"

GTFO with this crap.
