This! We beat them, I don't care if it's 100-1 or the 9-6 final score. We beat them, at home, that means something. If they're "that" good, (which they were) then the win should've meant more in the eyes of the committee or voters or whatever tf it was at the time.

Bring in the next team in line, which was Okie lite. "But omg they'll get run out of the stadium."

And? They're the next team in line, right? At the time they had no problem doing it when it was Alabama. Look at that national championship game when Colt McCoy got hurt and a true freshman had to play and then it went how you'd think it would go.

I could see a rematch from SEC foes from different sides of the conference, (at the time there were west and east divisions) but two teams from the west after one had already beaten the other one? In their house.

And to your point, they sit at home and rest while LSU played in the SECCG against Georgia. Playing one more game.

Still ticks me off. Not as much as the Patrick Peterson pick that wasn't called. I'll die on that hill. That's a pick in the pros.

I mean not really. They lost to the eventual national champion by 1 TD on the road and to a 10-2 Arkansas team on the road by 1 TD as well. They ALMOST lost to an inferior tenn and UNC team but pulled it out. The bama win that year was an all timer

Overshadowed by a better team the next year but that 2010 Patrick Peterson Heisman hopeful campaign was fun

2011 way overtook that team

2010 LSU got the most milage possible out of that 10-2 record. They relied too much on luck, imo

• vs N Carolina (first game) gave back nearly all of a 30-10 lead in the second half only to get a reprieve on the last play of the game, by an EZ ref who got a penalty flag (for DPI) stuck in his pocket.

• vs Tennessee, last play

• vs Florida -- got a HUGE break on a lateral bounce that was successful only on a scale of nanometers

That said, the team had two excellent wins, over Bama and over A&M in the Cotton. They also had no business losing to an ordinary Arkansas team.

Jarrett Lee balled out on a 3rd-and-13 play late in the Bama game (20:50 mark of the YouTube).

The offense was completely dogshit for most of the year thanks to Les and to a slightly lesser degree Crowton. Jefferson was not a fit for that “system” and yet there they were in year 3 trying to make it work. Shouldn’t have lost to Arkansas. A bunch of plodding wins at the beginning of the year (nearly choked a huge lead against a depleted UNC). Finished nicely by crushing A&M in the cotton bowl but otherwise just a weird season.
