A few years back ATVS ran a good series about LSU through the decades and in the 50s when Tulane could actually challenge LSU and the series was roughly split, Tulane brought in chancellor / president that changed their program mindset to more academic, less athletic.

They haven’t really recovered.

Zoo lights are a night attraction depending on how long you are in town. Depending on the age Alley Theatre will still be doing A Christmas Carol and the production is excellent. Children of all ages would enjoy the Museum of Natural Science. If they are super young, Children’s Museum.
I am always skittish about Mississippi recruits. Always seem to lose them regardless of coaching situation at Ole Piss.

I actually like the thought of Pittboss. He was the architect of GA’s line and did a hell of a great job there.

keep Frank

His best asset on staff is his ties to New Orleans coaching. They got huffy with O when Juluke was shown the door, which prompted the Mickey Joseph hire.

I am not saying we HAVE to keep Frank, but I am not sure who else will placate that coaching cartel.
Dominos: TD reports then crashes. Chris Low reports. Fat Glenn writes how we should have hired _________ instead.

Pick one for the blank: Sumrall, Drink, Wilson.

One of their beat writers called him a hoe, and he called him out to his face yesterday after the game LSU may be more pressure, but I don't think anybody in the press would have the nerve to say that about him... our press are pussies However, he could go 9-3 every year at Ole Miss, never win anything, and they would build a statue for him... let alone 11-1 Imagine bringing Ole Miss to success that they've never seen, and still being called a hoe by someone with somewhat of a voice... their arrogance is off the charts at this point, because they don't know how to act like they have been there before

Truth. Recently we had a coach in a presser state that “we are spoiled” and no one in the media called him out on it.
Left out loose win a team scores less points than another.

Felt the same thing about Spurrier until he left Florida, then realized he was a truly funny guy. Plus he wasn’t hanging half a 100 on us anymore.
1. He was a decent, successful coach in his 50s.

2. At some point, the game passes coaches by.

3. He came looking for the “SEC Athletes” and thought that he would automatically be successful putting more athletic kids on the field.

4. MHO is he had no idea how to interact with southern athletes, many of whom have a background of poverty, no college education in the home, etc. At ND sure he had kids go to the NFL but the types who DON’T go to the NFL are getting degrees in accounting, engineering, law, medicine, etc. The typical LSU athlete who doesn’t make the league drives a forklift or 18 wheeler for an LSU alum owned business. Evidence: early focus on his part was on graduation rates and such. He never got the “I don’t come here to play school” mindset. The stupid dances with athletes he couldn’t sign.

5. He lacked the work ethic of the previous 3 coaches. Saban, Miles, and Orgeron logged serious hours in football ops. He thought institution change (some of which I applaud— nutrition program is a good example) would be enough.
Even Tacky Curtains couldn’t salvage a Riley defense.

There have been moments I have screamed “where is the GD spy?” against the running QBs this season, but the defense has been the reason for our 5 wins. Give him a Klein type OC, and incentive heavy contract, I wouldn’t hate it if we miss the Lane sweepstakes.

I am still not sold he would have failed elsewhere. While UT has some resources they have have serious booster interference. Hell, one of their boosters screwed up the Saban hire.
Here is a honest portrayal of what Lane can do. Players still consider Mississippi to be the racist Klan capital of the US. And he can bring enough talent they have been winning at % better than they have in a couple of generations.

Not saying he has one but many contracts for coaches, executives, etc have a “moral turpitude” clause. A ton of grey area about what that includes but it is a catch all for bad behavior.
Frank is there to placate New Orleans coach cartel. This same role was held during his UTSA stint by Juluke and Mickey Joseph.

OL coaching question

Posted by HoustonTigerNKaty on 10/26/25 at 12:04 pm
Who was our last true technician coach- Stud? Was Cregg a true “developer”?
I will admit it, I was excited about the Kelly announcement and bought in to never had the stallions at ND. I thought he was a pompous arse at ND when we played them but had the team up for the challenge. Was excited about our Tigers being coached up, and not just told to run fast hit hard like the Miles era teams seemed to be built around.

After 2021 season I really thought we were headed to Hallman hell. A decade of wandering the wilderness until we lucked out with someone. Here is a guy, with the most wins in the game, taking the helm in BR. And if two guys with half a brain could win here, what might HE be able to do?

I don’t know what happens behind closed doors— does he not connect with players? Is he too stubborn or cranky or lazy as the years advance? I still maintain at one time he was a decent coach— but at some point his ability to coached transitioned from present tense to past tense.

This product on the field is not worth 10m / year. He will not win a championship here, and his ceiling is 2022/ /2023 10 wins a year— with a generational talent in JD5.

It is time for him to go. Next year will be a rebuild— why in the hell would we entrust him to build anything at this point?
My uncle (RIP) was a student in late 50s and talked up the natty during my youth in the Archer futility. His last LSU game was the 2019 beat down of Clemson— and definitely was in the Dome for the BCS championships.
