If this happens can we kick Mizzou and maybe one other school out of the SEC?

While not as prominent, in terms of athletics, if we must expand, I'd rather grab UNC or NC State and Virginia Tech.

If it gets bama out LSU's division then sure, why not. Adding OU and Texas would be the Death Star conference. No combination of 16 teams from all of the other conferences would be on the same level.

Lol I bet their fans are just thrilled at the idea. OU and Texas knocking on the door and asking if they can play too. Priceless. It would be worth it just to hear the SEC chants in Austin and Norman after all these years of them acting like the SEC isn't that big of a deal.

As noted, UT would have to give up the UT Network & I'd think that's a lot of income to give up.

I really don't think Longhorn Network has made as much money for Texas as you think. Sure they haven't been great the last 5-10 years but I just haven't read a single article saying that it's been some huge cash cow for UT.

As far as the conference revenue distribution goes from post 2018 season stats, each school in the SEC got $44.6 million and Big12 schools recieved $38.8 million. After the 2019 season, the Big12's revenue distribution went down to $37.7 million where as the SEC distributed $45.5 million.

It's one thing if any other team in the Big12 had a decent season lately, but it just seems like alot of those schools are just way too behind to catch up.

I’m skeptical. For one Texas AM will fight it tooth and nail, second Texas and the Texas Network not compatible with SEC network and I don’t see UT giving it up, finally I’m not sure rest of SEC will go along with concessions Texas would demand. They tore up the SWC with their demands.

If the SEC Sends Alabama & Auburn to East, I would be in favor

Why? I love playing them every year. We’d likely lose Florida as a permanent opponent as well. Our 3 biggest rivalries in terms of competitiveness would be gone.

ETA: per Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesmen, it will take a majority vote of the current SEC schools to accept Texas and OU into the league.

Well I can also tell you that theyre already down three votes from us, TAMU, and Bama because we have been in their backyard stealing their recruits using the "SEC" pitch.

Mizzou to the west and Bama/Auburn to the east?

That would make the most send geographically.

I also like the 4-team pod idea. You play everybody at least once every 3 years, and it creates more potential SECCG matchups. Essentially, you play the 3 teams in your pod every year, you rotate playing another pod head to head each year, and then maybe add one team from each other pod based on where you finished last year (NFL style). That would be 9 conference games though. The SECCG would be between the "division" winners of each of the pairs of pods that played head to head. So essentially, you have 2 divisions that change year to year on a 3 year rotation.

Truth is, from an economic (TV) standpoint and competitive addition standpoint, OU has a lot more to add than Texas.
And Texas brings Longhorn network and other "entitlement" issues that may be out of proportion to added value.
And, the way the school treated LSU when we last played in Austin leaves a lot to be desired in a conference "partner".
Add Okla. and consider UNC.

they are ever allowed to join, the NC game every year should definitely include two SEC teams! Forget about Clemson and Ohio State!

Might as well add them too and then thr SEC can be its own league period.

All of these reasons not to are trivial as fuk. This will happen sooner or later and the SEC will reign supreme as never before.

If this really happened and if you truly think that super conferences are around the corner then the SEC at least has to listen and consider this.

I mean as all-around sports programs go there aren't really 2 more in the south with more to offer a conference.

Texas will have to give up the Longhorn Network which I'm guessing is OK with them because they will make a lot more money in the SEC anyway I'd guess.

Does the SEC still have that agreement of not taking on new schools from the same state as current members?

It would be a super conference. Every team could get their own network if they want it. Actually, I believe LHN would go away. The SEC isn't begging them to come. They're begging to join.

I’m for adding OU. Not Texas.
