re: Was McMahon hired because he was the only option?
Posted by Will2nd on 2/23/26 at 4:10 pm to Sheriff Brackett
Basketball was in a lot of trouble when he got hired. They aren’t many high level BB coaches lining to coach a team sanctioned by the NCAA due to no fault of their own.

After one loss the entire Rant will be crying about how LK needs to spend less time on social media. Bookmark it.
If it works for him and the end result is relentless recruiting and high motivation versus what we have seen from BK then do it. At least we know he’s putting forth the effort level to get LSU in the CFP with a chance to win it all.

Fire guy cause he can’t win SB with Allen and then hire OC. Makes sense.
The offense scored 30 points but turned the ball over 5 times. That’s not Brady’s fault.

Doesn’t want to compete with the three elite QB transfers we signed.
Doesn’t matter right now He’ll be back here after he gains some experience if Lane wants him.
re: Why would a high level young QB prospect go to a P4 school to be a backup?

Why would a high level young QB prospect go to a P4 school to be a backup?
Well, he’ll be QB1 throughout Spring. That’s a ton of experience.

Is 100% recovery expected?
quote:
For young athletes with Lisfranc injuries, recovery odds are generally very good, with studies showing 73% to over 90% return to some level of sport, and 74% to 88% returning to their pre-injury level, though outcomes vary by sport and severity, with some experiencing residual pain or performance changes despite high return-to-play rates.
Looks like we’re in hopeful mode.

2 years; he’s a redshirt sophomore

We still need a bruiser at RB.
That’s Lamar Brown in short yardage situations.

Why would you commit to 3.5, 4 million a year for a unknown commodity when you could spend 5 and have a ton of experience but just not have it in the spring.
You’re assuming there won’t be lingering issues or other injuries that may occur because of the Lisfranc surgery. It’s not exactly clear sailing after spring. We all hope it’s clear sailing at the earliest by June.

I wish it were that simple. Houston is his Alma mater.

It humors me how certain douches would rather root for him be wrong than LSU grab the #1 player in the portal
I think this has more to do with QB health and Spring availability due to an entirely new offensive system.

It’s gonna be more than 2 mil
According to ON3, he’s looking for a starting opportunity, so maybe they have moved on?
quote:
After playing sparingly behind starter Jayden Maiava in 2025, Longstreet entered the transfer portal in January 2026 to find an opportunity to start and contribute to winning, rather than just holding a clipboard, according to his father via On3.

From Leavitt with Longstreet and Clark? Keep reading that from the talking heads elsewhere.
Still need more than one QB. Longstreet isn’t necessarily indicative of that, but still have to get needs filled while waiting on a decision from SL.
Numbers don’t lie when they are so vastly different.

Only 2 QBs threw passes last season
That’s because there were only two viable options. And after watching MVB, how viable was that option, really?
quote:
I just told you the data says LSU plays 3 QBs .05% of the time over the last 20 seasons
So just ignore what happened last season with Nussmeier? You need three because of the injury recovery situation. But one can be a freshman signee in February.

LSU isn't signing any of them. The future QB hasn't entered the portal just yet
Only 8 days left, what is this future QB waiting on?
The first thing I thought when seeing this is I hope Ole Miss doesn’t come out of this with a starting QB before we do.
The conflict of interest is not being played up as his agent is his coach’s agent also. Did his agent actually maximize his value or did he simply help his other client out by negotiating a number that worked for the coach?
