Freshman mistake in a high pressure spot

Jake turned out pretty good.

Ruckert does not have the pop in his bat that Jake did as a freshman, and Jake did not become a stellar fielder. We need Ruckert to be a stellar infielder (and I think he will) and really just a solid hitter.

I think if he becomes Michael Brasswell, that would be more than sufficient.

A lot of people are not going to like this
Brazzy was a low key player that got the job done

I genuinely shocked how many times the moment overcame Ruckert this season.

Brazzy's last season at 3rd was stellar, defensively. That is what I would like from Ruckert at SS. Not Milam level, but at least a little better defensively than Brassy or JT was at SS. He is already a better hitter than Brazzy was in 2025, though Brazzy was an excellent hitter in 2024.

Ruckert suck, he should hit the portal, mess up in key moments like clockwork.

Tard comment

Ruckert will develop, get better. He wasn't supposed to play this year, but we may be happy next season that he did.

Ruckert admitted the game sped up on him early in the season, which is understandable for a freshman. What went wrong last night? The speed of that play. He’ll learn from it just like he did with the routine plays.

Different bodies, and Ruckert will never sniff a 25 HR season like Jake was on pace for. But don’t discount Jack’s pop, he has a knack for barreling up the ball, just needs to figure out how to hit line drives up the middle instead of pulling everything.

if we had a Braswell level player at 3rd and 2nd this year, we probably win another 6+ games.

he got thrown in it and battled, I like his approach. Just needs to mature a touch.

Why? When I look at him and Braun and I see a Stud (Braun) and I see a guy in Ruckert that has a way to go. CJJ is going to go find a 2nd baseman and 3rd baseman or a guy who can play both if Pearson stays at 3rd as the everyday guy.

Ruckert is not stupid by no means and he has talent. But when I see him. I see a kid in man's body that mentally is not ready.

I think he's got a much higher ceiling than Braswell from an offensive standpoint. He had a ton of loud contact this year. Just never really found grass. He's also a much better athlete.

Theriot, who tends to overrate local kids, thinks he's got a Josh Smith ceiling.

If he could be 2025 Milam offensively (~.900 OPS) and Braswell defensively (~.950) at 2nd base, that would be perfect.

Perfect Game is a fricking blight on baseball.

Their only utility is as a database of player profiles.

RUCKERT is a big part of Jays plan the next 2 years. Kid was thrown into it a year too soon but the experience and lessons learned will serve him well. He will be a solid player for LSU and only get bigger and stronger.

Tanner Reaves level hit tool. If he can play defense as well as Braswell he’ll be fine but he didn’t perform anywhere close to that this year. You definitely keep him around but if a good 2nd baseman is available in the portal you have to take him, Ruckert didn’t show near enough to be guaranteed a starting spot next year. Braun and Serna are the only 2 freshman that should have a guaranteed starting spot going into next year.
