Lotta gumps…gumpin in this thread…I’ll educate because I’m not stupid.
Here’s how it works:
Your tax dollars finance LSU. It’s a public university.
The money generated by LSU Athletics would not only help fund LSU athletics, but they’d also be sent to other parts of the school on the academic side. And this happened every year especially if there were surpluses.
Well when you have a governor that wants to pay a 54 million buyout to one coach, and another 91 million to a new one- guess what. All those surpluses that used to be moved from the LSU athletic dept to the academic side, aren’t going to academic side anymore. So the academic side, which used to get this money, now has a budget shortfall. Now, when LSU has a budget shortfall, you think they just cut that spending? F no. They find it from other sources, and that is principally tax payers.
So yes, when Landry influences the state school to spend $100 million on head football coaches. You the tax payer will be affected. The money doesn’t just magically appear. It is removed from one area, and the area it is removed from is replenished by you.

I mean, I don't like Landry but I can't deny he's 100% right on this. I said the same thing when they ruled this decision. It's showing favoritism in the SEC. Keep in mind the NCAA was moving on ruling this before those players went to the NFL but they intentionally dragged their feet to give a delayed ruling screwing them over. They're going to win this case against the conferences and NCAA.

Democrat Governor John Bell Edwards hired former Democrat (LA Legislature) Lobbyist Scott Woodward to sign an irresponsible $100 Million Dollar, 10 year Contract with a Wine-Alcoholic, Coach by the name of Brian Kelly...a coach who was washed up and in semi-retirement. This was Woodward's second 10 year $100 Million Dollar deal, the first being with Jimbo Fisher & aTm, and each contract was promised by Woodward to produce a National Championship in Football.
Neither contract nor Coach won a National Championship at LSU or aTm, respectively.
Democrats suck at money management, don't produce results, and steal from the taxpayers every chance they get. Democrats are GREAT at wasting other people's money.
LBJ's great society and welfare state are a disaster and dumpster fire 60 years in hindsight after trillions have been wasted.
