I think this is more about what Blake Baker wants and how much power Lane and the AD are giving him. Olsen is Blake’s right hand man. I’m sure he expressed how important Olsen is to him, and Lane and Verge found an extra $100 or $200k or whatever was needed to keep him around.

It’s clear Lane trusts Blake and part of his pitch to him to stay and not take the Tulane job was that he was basically going to be the HC of the entire defense. Lane is ultimately the boss of the whole staff, obviously, and they ultimately all report to him. But I think he realizes how important this 1st season is and wants to devote as much of his time to installing the offense and coaching everybody up. Not just for ‘26, but ‘27. We didn’t talk a whole lot about how many portal guys we got with multiple years of eligibility left. We’ll obviously get some ‘27 starters in the portal next year, but we’ve got quite a few already on the roster who Lane can go ahead and begin developing. One of the glass half full benefits of Leavitt not being able to go through spring is how many reps the backups will get.

great post

LSU will be breaking in an entirely new team on the road in the third game of the season.

Ole Miss will be breaking in an entirely new coaching staff in the third game of the season.

With LSU's coaches, who will now be coaching against you...

unbelievable Cam Newton threw for almost 3k while rushing for 1,473

They just need to put an age cap for college athletics. Play as many years as you want, but you have to be 24 or younger. Hard cap, no exceptions and all sports included. College is for high teens to low 20s, not old arse adults.

totally agree, but now that theres million$ on the line, the argument is that it's age discrimination.

Good. No excuses when we whip that arse
Chambliss is an idiot for even pursuing this. He needs to go to the NFL, if he stays he risks the decision getting overturned on appeal during the season, giving up NFL $$ and NIL $$
At least he's not nick sheridan

Glad you're back, no power sucks.

It's not just Mississippi. Here in Houston, power goes out anytime the wind blows. These big power companies only care about the bottom line and doing stuff as cheaply as they can. If people suffer every now and then, so what?

Gotta get a generator when we can afford it

Tennessee may lose the Orange and White game

If he continues to pursue the extra year, he risks (1) getting the TRO overturned either before the season or during the season, and (2) a much lower draft position both because he’ll be in a less productive offense AND because it will be a deeper QB class.

Dude is an idiot if he continues to pursue.

well said

Pursuing this and not entering the draft is a huge mistake, kid is costing himself millions for sure

Worst case is he gets the TRO, plays like 4-5 games and looks bad in the new offense, then it gets overturned, he has to sit out the rest of the year and doesnt get the rest of his NIL $$ from OIe Miss.

Then in 2027 his draft stock is decimated and he goes in like the 6th round

Texas might be #1 when we play them but we get them at home. Alabama and TAMU will both probably be top 15 but again, getting them at home make a big difference.

Those three games will determine if we make the playoffs - I'm feeling pretty good
