Not sure who will make the final 12 teams but trust me if Tulane happens to make it because of a weak conference they will be embarrassed shortly thereafter. That’s not a slam on Tulane as I am a fan of all Louisiana schools in every sport but they are not playing top teams to arrive at these spots rather the spots have been created for them. Glad to see them make it and I’m pulling for them but don’t fool yourself into believing your team is better than LSU.

I seriously doubt LSU will make the CFP in 2024. I see us as maybe 9-3 in 2024. Our ascent will begin in 2025, IMO.

So you're saying our ascendance won't be when we have this loaded edge and LB group, and ton of veteran bodies at DB, 4 out of 5 OL group that has 18+ starts each over the past 2 years, a junior starting TE, the best blocking RB in the country who is a senior, or the extemely loaded and college experienced WR group in 2024? Our ascendance won't be where we play the top 3 teams on the schedule at home, with two coming off byes?

You, yourself think our ascendance will be after we return one starting OL, lose our 3 year starting TE, lose 4, if not 5, of our top 5 WRs, lose our best pass blocking RB, lose 3 more guys at DT and at least 4 edge guys. Lose Perkins and Penn, and lose likely our top 6 most experienced DBs?

Let me ask you something, how sure are you that Nuss will come back for a second year if he goes off? Let's say he throws the ball 32 times per game at 9 yards per attempts with 2.5 TDs per game. That's 3744 yards and 32 TD passes over a 13 game season. What do you think his draft grade would be with his arm talent, decent height, NFL coach father knowledge of the game? Just to let you know, the draft class for next year at QB is pretty week right now outside of Sanders and Ewers. Nuss could prove to be the #3 best QB and his draft grade would likely be first rounder.

All I'm saying is that we have a bird in the hand right now. We have the talent, coaching, and experience right now to make a run. Who knows how far we get? What I do know is that the 2024 team will be good and we have a fairly easy schedule with the way it sets up. The next run would be 2026, not 2025.

You don't think Trey'Dez Green will be in the top 5 receiving yards wise?
Not as a freshman. I don't see LSU doing a lot of 2 TE sets either unless it's for running and short yardage passing. Green will be big for us in 2025 when we lose every damn starter on the field at receiver and TE.

We just had a Heisman winner and one of the most prolific offenses of all time. We wouldn’t have made it.

We lose our Heisman QB, two best receivers and besides coaching changes, nothing gives us a hint of earth shattering improvements on defense.

What angle would anyone be able to take to put us in? I can’t think of one.

What did Bama lose? What did Michigan lose? FSU lost everything, but why are they up there?

Why are our transfer portal pickups and coaching pick ups not added into the equation? Nabers had 2 TDs coming into 2023, BTJ had less than 400 yards and 5 TDs. We had a decent OL returning in 2023, we had lost almost our entire secondary, and our best edge defender from 2022. With all that said, we were picked 5th-7th in the rankings going into 2023. So why is it so different now?

This. Tons of new D coaches and new talent. We have to prove it. That’s fine.

This format actually helps a team like LSU this year. It will reward strong play the back half of the season - when good coaching comes together.

You saw that a lot with Saban coached teams. Always better in Nov/Dec - even when they started out looking vulnerable.

It's time to get Tulane back on the schedule.

I miss having an In-State Hate Rival.

If Florida can close out every season playing Non-SEC Florida State and Georgia finish up with Non-SEC Georgia Tech, why can't LSU play Non-SEC Tulane? (Like it used to be)

If LSU can't finish high enough to make a 12 team playoff, I'd be shocked. I love being under the radar.

Don't forget (as I did) they don't get in just by being in the top 12. If they don't win the SEC, they're probably going to have to be in the top 8 or so to get in.

(I still think they'll get in though.)

We have a good shot but we need a lot of improvement on the defense if we want to win anything of significance this year.

Who cares? The 12 team playoff is going to be a joke. Only one year out of 10 has there been more than 3 teams that got into the 4 team playoffs, that were capable of winning.

You do realize that with a heisman winner, a should have been biletnikoff winner, and overall maybe the best offense we have ever had, we would not have made the 12 team playoff last year, right?

Making the 12 team playoff is not necessarily the cakewalk you are implying that it is, especially when our offense is losing 90% of its production and the defense has so much to prove still.

Ole Miss will not be a player in this all.

They will lose to two of the three teams:
@ LSU, @ Arkansas or vs OU

Them beating LSU was the fluke of all flukes. Willing to bet they stroll into Br undefeated and walk out with a 17+ pt loss

Doesn't surprise me. The media drools all over Ole Miss all offseason just to talk about how much of a disappointment they turn out to be when they don't win any meaningful games.

Did you see the defense last year? They have the schedule to do it, bama is down and here. The game that scares me most is ole piss they added every good player alive in the portal.

If we can make it through the gauntlet that is our 2024 schedule with 1 or 2 losses, I like our chances. Maybe we get in with 3 losses, but that would probably require a few other things to fall into place first.

If we can go undefeated in OOC and only lose close games away from home during the regular season, we may sneak in as the 10 or 11 ranked team and would be damned dangerous.

Did they add any OL? Their weakest spot on offense last year was OL and I am wondering if they fixed it.

The get in if they are in the top 11. Why do you think they need to be top 8? The conf champs will all most likely be top 12 other than the G5 team they let in. So top 11 is the standard benchmark.
