Eric Reid and Grant Delpit would’ve had similar NFL contracts. If Reid doesn’t get blackballed and NFL Owners colluded against for protesting. Also, Reid was the first DB I saw tackle Trent Richardson solo consistently. When he hit someone they went down. I haven’t seen an LSU safety hit like that since Reid.

Eric Reid was in almost all of my business classes. Came to class every day, obviously studied because he made straight A’s, even in the difficult Accounting courses. Was very polite and friendly to everyone.
I’ll never forget the Monday after that 2011 Bama game when he entered class and half the class gave him a standing ovation. His respond was very humble. It would have been the entire class but he was always early and the other half of the class hasn’t gotten there yet.
There a famous picture of him running out of the tunnel in DV holding the American flag. I don’t know WTF happened to him in San Francisco after he entered the league.

This is the issue with the anti-BLM crowd (not that I support the movement). Just because you don't agree with something doesn't make it un-American. Peacefully protesting is one of the most historically American things a person can do.

For sure, and I'm sure there are a few more. Unfortunately I was a little bit tuned out from LSU football due to severe medical and family issues, divorce, etc so it wasn't AS impactful for my fan experience. He was a monster though

He was really good his first few years in San Fran. His athleticism dipped a bit by the time he got to Carolina and the political stuff didn’t help.
Still a solid NFL career and my favorite safety to watch at LSU growing up.

I think we went down the Laron Landry route and actually got too big to effectively play safety in the NFL.
I remember seeing him on the panthers and he looked like a linebacker.

It sucked that he lost his career over peaceful protests. You guys would be amazed if you walked on a Navy vessel at 7:59 am; not a sailor in sight to stand for the raising of the flag.

He "lost his career" because he was a big, hard hitting safety who lost speed with time and injuries and was not nearly as valuable a player in 2020 as he was when he entered the league in 2013. He thought he was worth more money than his position was valued at around the league, and chose not to sign somewhere after he was released by the Panthers.

He was getting bulkier while the league was moving on from bigger safeties. I'd say he got worse advise from whoever his nutritionist and strength coach was at the time than from Kapernick.

They cut him 1 year into that deal. It’s ok to admit it was on the grounds of dragging performance instead of hiding behind the notion that he was important enough for owners to crusade against

Laron Landry is still my personal favorite. You can't tell me he wasn't on roids.

Not sure, but if it was overturned, it would likely be an incomplete catch because the receiver didn't complete all the motions. We saw a few like that last year. There's no way they award the catch to the receiver.

The defensive highlights from the Les Miles era are awesome. We had some unreal defensive players on those teams. Eric Reid was at the top of that list. He could do it all.
Watching those highlights bring be back to sitting in Bogeys bar. They would have them up on the TVs from lesmiles.net.
