They held us to 17 in the first half and just 7 in the second half. They probably have the best defensive personnel we’ve seen all year when you look at their roster. They were able to plug up the run and also get pressure on Jayden and make him uncomfortable with their front seven.

Do you guys think Bama will try to copy some things that Fla State did? Bama is one team that actually has the personnel to match up with the guys on our offense.

Florida state was easily the best team we have played so far. Likely the best we will play. They also got us first game.

But they would beat us 7 out of 10

Bama’s defense is better, but their offense sucks. We should be able to beat Bama

Diggs not playing has to make you wonder what would have happened in those early short yardage situations and what that would’ve meant for the 2nd half momentum.

Florida State didn't face our offense to be honest.

Jayden played that game with a lot of hesitation and didn't take chances down the field. It was the only game this year he hasn't done that.

I'm not saying we kill them if we played now but it would absolutely be a different dynamic with how we're functioning now.

If we run a qb sneak on 2 4th downs, we score 31 pts in the first half. No... we stopped ourselves.

The dline punched turner and others in the mouth and stopped the run game for sure.

I don’t know why people keep saying this, as if their offense is similar to Auburn. Bama’s SP+ offense is rated better than both Ole Miss and Missouri, and right behind FSU. They had a stinker against USF when they were figuring out QB but they have been getting better. I don’t think it’s crazy to think they’ll reach 40 if LSU plays defense like they did against those other good offenses.

I hope you’re right though and the metrics are wrong.

they didn’t stop us. Red zone inexperience, malik slipping, and a garbage LSU D stopped us.

No, they just happened to have the luxury playing us game one of the season.. If they were to play us tomorrow, I think the result would be completely different.

Difference in scheme benefits LSU. Ole Miss and Missouri aren’t really downfield passing attacks. They work short and intermediate and our trash tackling couldn’t handle it.

Alabamas throws deep and deeper. We haven’t really been burned over the top.

LSU was very close in the first half.

1st and goal from the 1 with no points. 4 shotgun snaps, 3 passes. Another 4th and one later, shotgun zone read stuffed.

Denbrock seemingly has learned his lesson from that half.

Unfortunately, the second half started with a really bad 3rd down Lacy drop. If he gets away from his defender and catches that, he is running 30 yards.

Right at the end of the 3rd, in a 7 point game, Daniels had Thomas wide open and just was late throwing to him. He has made that throw in about every other game this year. That play was followed by a Daniels pick on a play that Nabers fell down on the route.

By that point, the LSU defense had let the game get out of hand.

Umm negative. OL played like dogshite and we had a couple opportunities early to score TDs and ended up with like 3 or 6 points. Changed the momentum biggly.

absolutely true. Very perplexing given what we know the offense is capable of now.

Didnt help that the receivers dropped 2 passes that would have been big plays that extended drives in the 2nd half that could have swung momentum back over to LSU. LSU was down 7 on the last play of the 3rd and a long pass was dropped that would have set them up inside the 20 looking to tie. Next play was an interception, FSU scored a few plays later and then the wheels fell off

No, because it was our first game and we were still getting our feet wet for the season. I think the whole LSU Offensive Meatgrinder really took off after Grambling, so FSU getting us for their first game was lucky - for them.

If we played them now, I think we'd have even odds on winning. Jordan Travis is good, but he ain't all that. It's those two receivers that make him look good.

I seriously doubt that FSU could keep up with us in a boat race if we played them at this point in the season. Playing good offense against our defense when our offense isn't threatening to make the game competitive is one thing; playing good offense to keep up with the scoring machine that is Jayden Daniels and company is quite another.

The question, as always, would be whether or not our defense farting in their general direction would be good enough to get one or two stops and give us the edge in number of possessions?

No. We moved the ball at will in the first half. Bad play calling and bad coaching decisions in the red zone cost us.

Second half the wheels fell off.

Not to take anything away from FSU, they will likely be in the last game of the season, but LSU was out of synch that night and we are not even close to the same offense we were then.

If we played them again, we would score close to 40 if not more.
