Some of y'all just want to bitch. I re-listened to the bottom of the first inning from the Kentucky game. Kentucky sent 4 batters to the plate. There were 14 pitches. The count was stated 13 times. The number of outs was stated 4 times. The position of the runner was stated 3 times (only one base runner). The score was stated 4 times. This was all in the span of 7 minutes from the time the broadcast came back from commercial to when they went back to commercial at the end of the inning. I find it incredibly easy to follow the action when Blair is calling a baseball game. I have to think some of you have the game on and aren't paying attention at all...and then whine because he didn't say all of the information needed to catch you up in that exact moment you decided to start listening again. Increase your attention span and you'll be surprised at what you can hear.

What a surprise that there some absolutely moronic takes on here glorifying the recent olden days with no basis in reality.

You must be young. Jim definitely declined in the later years but during the 80’s and 90’s he’s had some incredible calls.

Here’s an explanation on Alec vs Alex

Pretty sure Chris Blair called the officiating a "clown show" on air after the overturned out and interference/balk call.

I'm good with his calls, energy and don't care what anyone says about it.

HEY NOW!!!

I find myself listening to a least a portion of a lot of games on the radio or on the app when I can't be there or in front of a tv. I don't dislike Blair in any way. He's informative so I know the details (score, count, etc), but I never feel like I'm part of the game. It's almost like he's watching it and slowly giving a recap. And while that is technically what he does, other broadcasters have a way to make you feel like you are seeing it as it happens. I don't know a better way to explain it than I find myself hearing the crowd and waiting for him to tell me what happened. With Hawthorne in his prime, it was more like hearing the game immediately as he saw it. Yes he made mistakes, but there is something to be said about knowing when to be happy before even knowing what to be happy about.

Yeah, Hawthorne would act like every hit was to the wall even though it was an infield fly. Probably why Blair waits til the play is about over.

Some of the Hawthorne calls used to make be just laugh, "Tiger have it 1st and 10. The give is to Addai up the middle and he gashed the Ole Miss defense for 9 yards. Tigers not have it 2nd and 6."

First and 10 Tigers...Davey under center...takes the snap...hands it to Toefield up the middle....not much there...brings up 2nd and 1

Hawthorn was always good for one or two of these math error calls a game. In his defense he was probably distracted from the play on these calls…multitasking.

Didn’t take long for the homers to show up. Blair is terrible and anyone who actually listens to him objectively will say the same thing. The game winning 2 run HR Milam hit yesterday sounded like a long fly ball the whole time until he realized it wasn’t.

Right. Because it didn't look like it was going out but then it kept carrying in the wind. I watched it the same way on TV. Wasn't sure he got all of it, maybe it's going to drop in the gap, they're still going back, Holy shite it's gone.

Y'all would be the same ones bitching if he started yelling excitedly about a flyball that got caught at the track.

Some of you people are either incredible liars or extremely troubled. (referring to the "I don't listen to Chris Blair at all" people)

You mean to tell me that you are a die-hard LSU fan. You are a big enough fan to post on a message board. You may even have season tickets. You may even donate to the TAF. Yet, if it comes that you need to be in the car during a game, you refuse to turn on the radio and listen just because Chris Blair is the announcer?

You are either lying or you have serious issues and need professional help.

I like Blair overall, but I think baseball is his weakest sport. Not from a knowledge standpoint, but in quickly letting the listener know the result of a play. Today I was listening on the radio, and he called the play where the LSU CF misplayed a ball and it got over his head. And he never told us what base the runner wound up on. It seemed like several minutes later that we found this out. Aggravating.

Also, lots of dead air. You can expect some in baseball with its pace, but it seemed like an excessively long amount of dead air plenty of times before anything was said. Especially for a championship game broadcast, you want that energy and drama.

Would have been nice to have had a former player as an analyst from pitch to pitch to liven up the broadcast. Franques basically provides stats and player bios, really more information than analysis. I like his info, but it would be nice to have an analyst as the No. 2 guy.

Chris Blair is really spot on, detailed, and energetic in basketball. I kind of think that's his best sport.

I hardly ever post so I don’t want to speak up for once and sound like I’m arguing. But there were two long fly balls he got excited about a little earlier and I think he even said “get outta here ball” on one of them but they were just long outs. Maybe he didn’t want to get excited about another long out to end the game. Just my thoughts. And maybe I’m defending Blair a little bit too ??

I fail to see why he’s so terrible. I haven’t missed a game this season, and I’ve had Blair on while I’ve watched the games. Never once was I unaware of a count, outs, runners on base, etc.

Nor have I felt like he hasn’t had a good call on a big play.

Some of y’all just bitch to bitch. Of course, I don’t spend 80% of my life on a message board, so there’s that.
