College Football Playoffs has nothing to do with the NCAA, it’s not a NCAA championship like other sports. So I guess it would have to be added to the lawsuit.

Not sure about that if LSU is SEC champs. A court would probably make the CFP follow its own auto-bid rules.
But at-large? They'll just say we weren't good enough, and it had nothing to do with the 2 players in question. I think we might have no recourse then.

Thats exactly what I was predicting. The ace in the hole for the conferences is the CFP. They can change their bylaws and say any team with players not approved by the NCAA or their Conferences are not eligible to be in the selection process and participate in the playoff. Its coming

It's a good question...I agree this has gone straight to plaid and now may be the biggest distraction we've ever seen in CFB.
Here's the problem, LSU didn't start this...now LSU has to deal with legal directives created directly by the SEC's refusal to follow the NCAA's rules.
IMHO, it was a pissing match with the players, and the SEC thought they'd win by bullying LSU. Only problem I'm afraid, is that LSU ain't scared of that bully?

This decision by LSU could be the difference in LSU winning a Natty this year or not. If LSU plays the players, and the SEC loses,, the end result is LSU will be left out of the playoffs unless LSU is undefeated.

Per Charlie Hanagriff, he sourced that from a high-level admin at LSU.
Yeah, so what's going on here is that the NCAA is forcing Congress to consider this. That's all they're doing, and that's all the SEC is doing. They are sitting there in what's clearly a very mutually assured destruction scenario and playing chicken with Congress because if the CFP committee does that, if the SEC tries to levy fines like this, this is going to end with major antitrust consequences. The SEC's genius legal team doesn't even realize that passing that act won't save them from the liability they've already created for themselves.

They will have to be extremely careful as well bc LSU is not the only team with these players.
If they come out against LSU over the injunction players but allow another team that also has these players, they would be in trouble.
