It looked like CBK was telling him on the sideline that he should have gone down vs running in back for a TD. Or am i way off base??

That’s what he said at his press conference.

…but, the team was super excited. You had the OL running to hug and congratulate him, and other offensive players were congratulating the other defenders. It was the first game in recent memory were it legitimately looked like they were all a team and all were pulling together.

If the defense turns it around the next few weeks, you can point to that INT return as the time it was turned around. So while not technically the correct thing, I think it actually helped team morale tremendously.

Pick 6 for a DB is golden and burns has had his shared of being burned.... so I was glad to see him snag that and run it in.

Wide open to the end zone though! If it was 60 yards away sure but.

Players generally perform instinctively. Its fine for someone to think of this after the game, but players just cannot be expected to cover all of these scenarios in the course of the play.

This defense needed that pick 6. Morale boost. Kelly should have said “hey..way to step up, son.”

I'd take the pick 6 just for the morale boost any day.

I agree. We needed that. We need some balls on defense.

I mean, if your defense is so pitiful that you're worried about giving up 10 points in 35 seconds, you need to be talking to your defensive coordinator, not the kid who just picked off a pass and scored to put you up 10. Hell, we could also fumble the snap on offense when trying to kneel and have the D run it back and score the TD to win. If you're really going to break down all possibilities...

Unless we fumble and they score on a busted coverage.

With the TD they have to score twice.

With our D, I prefer the TD

If you guys want to know how shitty the coaching is, they actually practiced this exact scenario this week. Literally, pick the ball of with less than 2 mins, just get down instead of scoring.

Guess what Burns did? Keep blaming coaching for our shite defense.

BK needs to shut up after his debacles with game management, he’s just looking for ways to blame players

I’ll take a 2 score lead over a 3 point lead and possession with :34 left every time. Anything can go wrong with a 3 point lead. I’m making the opponent score twice and recover an onside kick.

The only situation where you should go down after an INT is when your team is up by only 1 point, because in that case a TD keeps it a one score game. If you have the chance to make it a two score game with under a minute left, you might as well go for it.

I wouldn’t give a rats arse with how badly the defense needed sustained positive play. Defense is 121st and lesser talented teams have played our previous opponents much tougher on defense from a points and yardage perspective. You’re smoking dope if you think that’s just the players

Yes, give me the 2 score walk in TD lead every time with that amount of time left.

After BK’s time management the last 2 games he needs to lock it up. Kid actually made a play for a change and he’s got to say something? I’ve been a BK fan and still think he’s the right guy for LSU but he’s said some dumb shite this fall.
