It looked like CBK was telling him on the sideline that he should have gone down vs running in back for a TD. Or am i way off base??

I needed the back door cover so I told Major to score

Game was over after he scored also.

In most cases going down is the right call but in that situation either way game is over

if we have the ball, they have no chance

If they have the ball, they control the situation and thereby, have a slim chance

I get it, going down may have been the smarter play, but it was a huge moment for a struggling defense! It did effectively seal the game!

I'd take the pick 6 just for the morale boost any day.

Glad he scored. Great confidence boost for the whole D squad.

Yeah defense needed that.

It was nothing like giving Arkansas the ball back down 3 when we could’ve milked the clock all the way out. That pick 6 put the game out of reach and gave the defense confidence.

CBK needs to get back in his place after mismanaging the clock at the end of Arkansas game. Right move by Major

That is correct. Kelly said that in his post game press conference. The pick six, especially since it put us up by two scores, was just fine with me. And congrats to the people who spotted the 5.5.

Brian Kelly is not the one to be giving that sort of advice. He has fricked up late game management 2 weeks in a row.

Burns ensured he wouldn't make it 3

You are not off base. Someone asked the question in the postgame presser and Kelly said immediately that Burns should have gone down.

I don’t really know why anyone is arguing otherwise. Yes, the pick 6 effectively seals the game as well. But there is still an opportunity (however remote) for Mizzou to get a score and onside kick. If he goes down, we take a knee and the game ends.

It’s not really a knock on Burns though. I think very few college DBs have the discipline/situational awareness to take a knee there. Especially with a wide open path to the endzone. The upside of getting the interception far outweighs the downside of scoring, and I seriously doubt Kelly gave him too much grief about it considering it was a huge play.

Yeah I think that’s something you point out in film study, in the moment you let the guy and the defense have it.

Damn Right! Motivation is a powerful thing, taking a knee would have been smarter from a strategic point of view but a Pick 6 was a Smarter thing to do for our D. Knowing that that, "hey we can do this " Hell Yeah! D showed a vast improvement and a lot of it was Pete working with the Team! Pete is someone you listen to and at 82 how many 18-24 year olds you think listen to an 80 plus year old Man? I hope BK MH and the rest are paying attention! Pete Pete Pete... Pete F'n Jenkins ! Hell Yeah Geaux Tigers ??!

They have a slim chance in each case. Remember, just yesterday we had an example disproving your first assertion, when Miami lost. And I realize they were knuckleheads, but that’s what it would take in either case for LSU to lose that game.

Ironic from BK who could have cost the Arkansas game with far dumber choices
