This may not be of interest to many of you, but for those of us who are several hours from Baton Rouge, it's become a major consideration. The hotels require two nights for SEC games; for the AtM game our bill was $1,055 at a hotel where its normal rate is approximately $120 per night. Our bill for Alabama will be $1,077.

I checked around at the other hotels, and they're all about the same. It's getting awfully expensive for hotels, tickets, parking passes, TAF and NIL contributions, etc. What is your experience? Thoughts? Suggestions?
I've been a season ticket holder for over 20 years, and these hotel rates have just become ridiculous.

Find an air bnb in a surrounding area that’s not campus and pay a regular rate…

Our daughter goes to Alabama, the hotel prices there can reach north of 2 grand to stay close to the campus...(just sayin, 1 grand near the action is typical for SEC football)

none game day weekends, these nice hotels are like 235 a night....

On a side note, we are traveling to the game from NC, flights anywhere inside of Lousiana are like 6-700 bucks each

we're flying ot houston for more than half that rate

so the airlines are in this action as well

rediculous

This happens in every college town during football season. There is a legal maximum rate you can charge per room and they charge the max during SEC weekends because they know everyone else is as well.

Supply and demand.

On graduation weekend I visited California and the rates were bumped up 3-4 times normal pricing. Yeah, we are getting fleece! Luckily my traveling partner that weekend found something over an hour away and it wasn’t as bad.

Check with the LSU Alumni Association and/or contribute to Lod Cook Hotel. If they still have openings, you can contribute, guaranty a room for all football weekends at those same prices or lower. The atmosphere is also great. Of course, the annual donation required is fairly substantial, but it is a charitable contribution. Since the football team stays at Lod Cook only on Friday night, Lod Cook has been offering just Saturday night rooms, so no 2 night minimums. That may be another option.

Cant really blame them. They've gotta make money and Baton Rouge isnt exactly a tourist capital.

it's supply demand not price gauging. if you aren't willing to pay it someone else is...

I’m just about done. This is the first year in a looong time we didn’t get rooms in BR or go to an away game. Down to 2 in stadium club and 2 in the bowl and each year it gets harder and harder to justify renewing. Now, I much prefer watching on tv at home.

Been going so long, it’s hard to rip the bandaid off.

My suggestion is what I do for away games…..get a room ~45min-1 hour down the road in the right direction. IE can look in NOLA, St Francisville, Lafayette depending on what direction. Your pocket book will appreciate it and you be glad the next morning you are a little further down the road.

OXFORD hotels did the same exact thing and that jacked up rate was just about the same. I'd bet all these hotels are working together nationwide for events like this to rip you off.

That is an astronomical markup. Easy fix. stop going. let them crash and burn.

I haven't used a hotel in 4 or 5 years. I stay in really nice airbnbs down in Gonzales or the French Settlement area typically for around $600 for three nights. I would seriously recommend just getting away from hotels. I personally prefer Airbnb houses. I don't have to worry about people above me or in the room next to me being loud me or some idiots coming down the hallway late at night waking me up. Plus, they have full kitchens and washers and dryers. If you don't mind driving half an hour to the game, it'll save you half the cost.

There are several Hilton properties in Hammond around $200 or less.

All the time - nothing new.

We'll be at Tiger's Trail this weekend with the RV.

First time, so hopefully it's a nice place. Looks nice. Way cheaper than two hotel rooms.

just do it. you will be glad you did. i did the same during the covid debacle with dumbass tate. it was a fun run.

no more possible issues with weather, traffic, concessions, bathrooms, DJ, tailgating or any other issue most bitch about now.

now you can have big screen TV on 50 yard line, Ac, no getting rained on, private bathroom feet away, all the food and beverages you want. and no driving or traffic.

You can stay at my house 4 miles from the stadium for $350.00 a night. I'll throw in breakfast.
