That’s the way the world used to work. With NIL he can get paid in college to make up the difference.

Jayden Noot? I know he is coming off of an injury. Turned down $$ to come here! Gotta think he is in mix!

We have so much unknown and offense and starting pitching to replace. It all depends who stays, goes, comes and what other teams gain or lose as well. It’s so hard to win the CWS. I realized that this year more than the past.

I would flip Guidry to SS; Braswell to 2B for now. Not convinced Braswell will start. Also, Neal at C.

I guess it's still TBD if Travinski/Jobert return.

Questions:
- if Jobert leaves (kinda expect him too reading the comments), does that open the door for Josh Stevenson to return?

- Any incoming Fr that could start?

Are there any key dates as far as the portal goes? Like opening, closing or peak times? Still not totally familiar with it.

Guidry will get first crack at SS IMO
Not dumping on Guidry, but why would we bring in an experienced SEC shortstop (hit .284 as a freshman & .255 as a sophomore played in 105 games) & in give first shot at the position to a kid who as a freshman, was a backup middle infielder that was 1-7 (.143) with 1 RBI, 1 walk, 1 hit by pitch & 4 strikeouts?

Guidry may win the position, but I think it’s wrong to assume he goes into fall ball as SS1.

Way, way too early to tell but just for fun...
1. Pearson (L)- LF
2. Kling (R)- CF
3. White (R)- 3B
4. Neal (L)- C
5. Jones (R)- 1B
6. Reaves (L)- 2B
7. Frey (R)- DH
8. Ruddell (L)- RF
9. Guidry (R)- SS

SP - Hurd, Loer, and one of Burns/Holman (just a feeling one of the two ends up a Tiger)

This is based on the assumption that Jobert and Travinski leave. Tanner Reaves does come despite what Blinn reported recently about him returning. I think Braswell gets used more as a MIF utility guy if Guidry pitches or late inning defensive replacement. Jay Johnson tends to alternate left, right as much as possible

We need a power hitting Right fielder.

Can jones play RF?

Think Ruddell or Paul will get a long, long look out there. Jay is also very high on Frey as a RF. At this point, I think the answer in right is already on the roster and not in the portal. Now maybe Frey plays right and there is a DH/1B in the portal to give you some wiggle room with Jones.

I have no info but strongly suspect Braden Montgomery is going to be our RF next year.

That lineup looks awful. Guarantee there's 3 newcomers that we don't know yet playing MI and OF plus some pitchers. Jay won't put that lineup on the field. Also Jobert and Travinski are draft risks

I agree, LostTiger. I don't see Guidry and Brassell in the middle as some have said. I think JJ brings in 2 new guys at 2B & SS and brings in a really good OFer. We also need at least one really good starting pitcher from the portal in my opinion.

We are losing arguably the best LSU everyday player in history in Crews plus some good bats in Morgan, Dugas and perhaps Trevinski and Jobert. Those are some big shoes and alot of holes fellows.

People are assuming that Guidry starts at SS for us clearly didn’t watch him there in fall and spring practice and also aren’t taking into account that our everyday SS isn’t going to be also pitching.

Why does everyone assume Guidry will start at 2nd base?

Zero chance Travinski is back to be the 2nd or 3rd catcher or DH, unless he has no pro ball ambitions.

I think Jobert is going to strike while the iron is hot as well.

Guidry pitched out of necessity. It would be grossly unfair to project a player's career based on their first seven ABs. Example, if I heard Sully right, Wyatt Langford only had 4 ABs his entire freshman season.

Jobert ain’t coming back.

My bold prediction is that Jobert will be back, and he’ll be the starting second baseman next year.

He showed flashes of being a decent infielder this year in limited action at third base. And with Dugas moving from the outfield to the infield this year, it wouldn’t be an unprecedented move.

If Jobert comes back, it's because he has zero aspirations of playing pro ball, which is not the case.

He's gone if he gets drafted, regardless of round.
