so are you saying he will claim self-defense?
Wouldn't you? Are would you rather have a mob, who wasn't there, decide the fate of each criminal event.
We are all sorry for Sims and his family but the judicial system with all is weaknesses is better than democratic rule.

Here’s why you’re wrong:
Sims only ever throw punches in defense of himself or others. It is clear from the video that he is walking around trying to clear the other group out.
When he starts throwing punches at the shooter he is throwing them in response to the shooter punching the defenseless guy on the ground.
Therefore the shooter is the aggressor and sims is defending the defenseless guy on the ground from the shooter
Under LA law you cannot claim self defense if you are the aggressor.
He’s going to be convicted of 2nd degree murder.

Dyteon sounds like the name given to an upstanding member of the Baton Rouge community.

Police said Wade came to aid of another guy being attacked, trying to defend him when perp shot him.
Perp glasses fell off in fight, cops matched dna.
Perp admitted to having a gun and shooting.
2nd degree murder.
Wade's last act on this earth was defending another person under attack.
To me, a much greater legacy than basketball.

There is no good legacy in being shot in the head in a fight
The lesson for kids is to stay away from this mess

I hope you are correct. In the 2nd video can you clearly see that the Shooter is the one beating the guy one the group up?
Posted on 9/29/18 at 10:49 am to TheAstroTiger
Yes. stop being the guy who wants to change the narrative.
Sims was simply aiding his friend who was getting jumped.

While I do not support the shooter and think he should fry, that's not entirely accurate.
Disparity of force exists. Let's say you're in a fight with a guy who's 120lbs, he could probably pull a weapon Mikee.
Same goes for a woman in a fight with a man. Or if the fight changes from a fight to risk of death. It's a blurry line.

Pretty clear to me. That was a close range shot. Guy was beating a dude on the ground, Wayde threw punches to defend that guy, and Dyteon shot him in the head as he closed in.
fricking coward.

Yes, the guy was actually throwing a punch at the friend when Wayde started fighting him.

You completely missed the point.
Coming to the defense of another person under attack IS his legacy.
,What would you have done, Braveheart? Let your friend get beaten to death?
What exactly is "this mess"?

Why wouldn’t he
Don’t know what happened before hand but Sims is on the offensive going after him
What else is he going to claim? He has to claim self-defense of some sort because he killed a person. I don't see a mark on him on him in his mug shot though. The threat of someone punching you in an unconfined space isn't enough to put a bullet in someone's head. He is finished.

One could argue felonious assault was occuring to Wayde's friend. As Wayde defended him, he was killed by one of the initial attackers. Killing someone in the commission of a felony = 1st degree murder. Die-Tee-Ahn's best chance is manslaughter as a plea, because he would be convicted of 2nd degree murder with those videos.

Dyteon Simpson, of 4310 Burgess Dr. in Baker, has been booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of second-degree murder. According to an affidavit of probable cause, Simpson admitted to detectives to "intentionally shooting the victim."
Simpson also confessed to detectives that he punched a friend of Sims first before "intentionally shooting" Sims.
So much for the "stand your ground" defense

the defense will certainly promote the size of Sims & the aggressiveness coming after him

Not really.yeah he had his back, but he was pretty aggressive about it, not that there is anything wrong with that. I would have done that too as a 20 year old. Today, I would have simply tried to break it up as best you can and descalate the situation. Sims escalated it by attacking.
Again, not saying Sims deserved that in any way obviously. But he is a large human being. I’m not 6’6” but I know I’m a lot bigger than most people and that I could really hurt some little terd like the one that shot Sims. Just b/c you know you can whip someone’s arse, doesn’t mean you should. I don’t expect a 20 year old to be able to control himself that way. I know I didn’t.
What happened was common among colleges all over the country, up until the point dipshit decided to pull out a gun.

RIP Wayde. You were a good man whose life was cut short and we will miss you in our community.

I’m not trying to change a narrative. I’m asking a question. I hope the guy who shot him rots in jail. I’m trying to have s non emotional conversation about the likelihood this guy gets convicted
